A/n: Heyy sorry a lot for taking so long with this chapters, school got me and it's my final year in High school. Also... I warn you all because I planned a lot of angst here (sorry, my hands and my mind are kinda evil :( ) and I'll be updating in the next weeks all I can.
I want to add that the picture up there shows a Vortex Manipulator from Doctor Who comic. Enjoy the chapter :)

-Varian, I told you to stay away from those rocks!- Quirin approached Varian, mad because of him disobeying a clear order.

-I know what you said but-

-Then there should be no misunderstanding! Now listen to me. You-

-No! No, you listen to me, dad. Our village is dying! You think running from the problem is gonna fix it? No! These rocks aren’t going away.- He crossed his arms and let out a big sigh.

-I know, Varian, but there is more to them than you can possibly imagine.- Quirin took a glance at his gloved hands, deciding whether he wanted to reveal everything to his son or keep them away from him…

-Then why won’t you tell me? Dad! I just deserve to know.- Varian turned around to see his dad, waiting for a reply.

-I am sorry son… you are not ready.- Quirin took out the glove from his left hand, taking it out as his hand showed a carved circle with three short lines inside it.

As he kept glancing at his hand, someone in a dark cloak appeared from the back of the lab, rushing towards Varian as the mysterious person shouted:

-Varian, careful!!- Quirin gasped and so Varian, while his father watched how the cloaked figure pushed away his son.

-Ack!- He rolled onto the ground as Quirin ran past the unknown person and helped his son, grateful that he wasn’t hurt.

-Varian, are you completely okay?!- He helped Varian get up, still eyeing him.

-Y-Yes, dad. W-Who was that?- Both looked in the direction of the figure and noticed that it didn’t had the hood on, watching a girl with (l/h) (h/c) hair, (e/c) eyes and she kept struggling, in vain.

-It c-can’t be…- She muttered, sighing and finally giving up.

-Thanks for saving my life b-but… who are you? H-How do you know my name? I don’t know you!- Varian approached her, curious and worried about the state of the person.

-Back off! It’s dangerous. I’m (y/n), b-by the way… I’ve got s-something for you.- She grabbed her satchel and tossed it to Varian, which held a very confused and nervous look, barely glancing at her notebooks.

(Y/n) extended her arm towards Quirin and smiled at him, Varian noticing the device on her wrist; he looked so fascinated at it as the girl chuckled softly.

-Take it, it’s better off with you than with me since… I’m stuck here.- (y/n) shook her head slowly, letting Varian take it from her.

-Why did you done this? I-I still can’t understand it. There must be a reason for this to happen, right?- The blue eyed boy slowly backed off, still watching the device.

-I’m afraid I can’t tell you but… the device you have in your hands is called v-vortex manipulator. It jumps into another time but b-be careful, it’s a very complex device used to jump back and forth in tim- AH!- Just as when Quirin and Varian noticed, the orange amber was reaching the head of (y/n), giving her at least seconds of life.

-I-In time! I-I done it because I saw your future. I gave my life to give you a b-better future…- She closed her eyes, the amber covering her whole body as it reached some meters high above both.

They glanced at her expression, full of pain as a little bright thing was coming out of her eyes, both realizing it was tears. The tears were frozen along with her, inside the orange amber...

-She talked about the future and giving in her life for you? W-What is this?- Quirin asked his son, unsure of what to think but all Varian knew he felt was guilt inside him for letting someone else do such act of courage.

-I’m not sure, dad. I feel bad for (y/n) and even if I don’t know her at all, I’ll find a way to take her out of that thing. That’s a promise…- He glanced at the solid, high structure and decided to turn away from it since the whole mess was giving him some sort of bad feeling.

After some minutes, Quirin and Varian decided to cover the orange amber meanwhile they tried to survive the raging storm yet to come.

"-At least I saved you...-"
