Varian worked the rest of the day in his newest invention: a type of liquid that could help food grow slightly faster, doing at least four or five mistakes in the process.
After the seventh attempt, he tested the brown liquid with a little bush of strawberries, quickly realizing the strawberries were growing slowly -but in fact- they were growing.-I finally did it! This sure will be helpful if food isn't growing quickly enough. I might as well name it later...- He let out a little yawn and without any warning, he fell onto hi bed, snoring softly while Rudiger jumped on bed and cuddled him.
The next morning, Quirin woke up early and went to do some breakfast for Varian. Even if Quirin didn't wanted to leave his son alone, he had to. He was Old Corona's Chief and he needed to be the one to lead and calm down the people from the village. And eventually, he requested secretly for a new and free place from the black rocks. The King, aware of the desperate situation, agreed and inmediatly received Nigel's word, claiming that he "never received such reports about the fields being full". The King exactly did know what was happening, that was the reason he never discussed it with Nigel or someone else.
Quirin rubbed his eyelids softly, cooking some eggs and bacon while his mouth left a sight. He also needed to remind his smart but troublemaker son to stop his experiments with Alchemy at least for the few hours he was gonna be out.-Good morning, dad. Is breakfast ready?- Varian asked suddenly, his sleepy figure approaching the table and sitting down, hearing a big yawn coming from him.
-Almost. Listen, I need to help the village to pack up things and leave Old Corona. So please, no alchemy for now...-
-We're leaving? Now? But what about (Y/n)?- He heard his father sigh and his tall figure turned around with one dish in each hand, leaving one in front of Varian.
-We're not going far but... Varian, please stop messing around those rocks. You know what they did to that poor girl.-
-I know, I know! That's why I decided to stop making experiments around them... I need to discover who she is and why she said that.-
Once both of them started eating, the silence fell into the entire house.
Varian felt quite guilty without a very specific reason. Maybe it was because (Y/n) saved him and he never thanked her enough for doing so...-Varian, I have a very bad feeling about this situation. Please don't do anything reckless, I'll be back in the afternoon to prepare the bags.- Quirin already finished his dish and went to leave it inside the sink.
-I won't, dad. Bye!- Varian waves a little goodbye to his father as he see him leaving.
Once Quirin left and he finished his breakfast too, Varian walked downstairs only to be met by his raccoon little friend holding the little brown bag (Y/n) gave him before being completely trapped inside the orange amber.-Rudiger, what are you doing with that?- He approached him and took the bag away from the fluffy raccoon, opening the same book he read yesterday, still eyeing the book.
-If I read more it won't do any harm, right?- He looked at the entry and decided to start reading it again, curiosity getting the best of him.
"I decided to pour down my feelings... It's not that I will hide or not this from him but I'm quite terrified something might happen just like that afternoon. It still haunts me and makes me realize how stupid I was about everything...
Two inventions. Two marvelous but incredibly impossible devices I made: The memory keeper and the vortex manipulator.
I worked so hard on them! Day and night, behind Varian's back because he had enough with worrying about his encased father-"-Encased father? That's not- not possible or is it?- Rudiger looked back at him, crawling on his lap and resting there.
-So this happened before but she avoided it? My father was meant to be trapped there but she changed it?! This-this is time manipulation!- He quickly grabbed the brown bag and grasped the wrist-device called "Vortex Manipulator", eyeing it softly and looking at the details.
-So she used this to uh... Jump back in time?- As quickly as he went to read, there was already an answer.
"I used the Vortex Manipulator to travel into another timeline, trying to avoid the despair of Varian and to save his father but... I-I did something truly stupid! Stupid (Y/n), completely stupid!
Varian finally went mad and started planning an attack against Rapunzel and the rest of Corona. I noticed it and tried so hard to knock some sense into his head but... He left me no choice.
I stole his memories and showed them to the other Varian (second timeline to be exact). I-I shouldn't have done that... He just suffered with all those memories and just fainted. I thought he did but... Once I saw a line of blood coming out of his mouth, nose and his chest wasn't moving... I-I realized something...
He was dead.
-(Y/n)-She did WHAT?!- he covered his mouth, scared yet surprised. But what surprised him the most was a pair of dry droplets in the page. Dried tears.
-She... Removed my memories? And I d-d-died?! No, there must be something silly going on about t-this. I just can't simply die and then... Be here, right? Right, Rudiger?- He hold the raccoon and hugged him, completely confused and scared about everything.
-Rudiger, for the first time in my life... I'm scared.-
