To say that Florence loved helping with the wedding was an understatement. She felt like she had found her life calling. Where some people would be stressed and giving up on choosing different napkin colours, Florence could think of nothing else she would rather be doing. Because of this, Jim and Sebastian managed to be relatively-stress-free and trusted Florence to do it all correctly.
The wall opposite her bed was a massive mood board for their wedding. They had decided on an inverted theme, with the main colour being black with accents of grey and white. She spent countless hours searching through wedding magazines, cutting things out and pinning them on the wall. There was an angry pile of discarded paper in the corner, that Seb would occasionally come in and remove.
It took three months of planning, but for Florence those entire three months were full of planning and enjoyable stress. Everything was perfect, or at least everything she could think of was. She ran over everything with the couple via a PowerPoint presentation. It was around then that Jim began to see himself in her. Not in a psychopathic way, in a precise and thorough way. She knew what needed to be done and did it well. And he admired her for that.
"And I have one last surprise for you-"
She clicked onto the next slide, which was just a screenshot of a piece of paper. The writing was too small to read so Jim and Seb struggled to read it. "You can't - you can't really see it well... But basically I did an online thing and now I can legally marry you. That's the certificate saying I can." She cleared her throat, "saves getting a priest, right?"Jim and Seb shared a look and got up at the same time to give her a hug. She giggled a little awkwardly as they thanked her for all she had done for them.
"It's okay, honestly... It's practice for when I get married eventually..."
Seb kissed her forehead and grinned at her, "I'm only letting you marry the best man of the best men. You deserve nothing less."
"Or the best woman of the best women." Jim corrected, smiling cheekily. She blushed a little bit.
"I'm just really truly happy for you guys and I want everything to be perfect."
Jim copied Seb's act of kissing her forehead, "well the wedding isn't until a week so now you can relax. Make up for all the craziness."
"But I still need to-"
"Nope. Don't want to hear it. You're going to stay here and relax and have a good time, or else. It's time for us to take care of you, not the other way around." He led her to sit on the sofa, as Seb got the kettle on for some hot chocolate. Jim wrapped a furry blanket around her and put her favourite movie on: Castaway. He and Seb put some popcorn in the microwave. Seb wrapped his arms around his waist as they watched the counter.
He mumbled in his ear, "we are so lucky to have her."
"We are lucky I didn't do as much damage to her as I intended," he sighed. "But I guess I picked her for a reason. Everything happens for a reason."
"Things are going to be better now I can tell... We-"
He was interrupted by the sound of his phone. He kissed his neck once and picked his mobile up. It was Severin.
'Mum and dad want to come to the wedding. What should I tell them?'
"Oh, fuck." Seb sighed and put his phone down rather aggressively. Jim frowned, trying to look at it but the screen had gone black.
"What is it, sweetie?"
"For fuck's sake-"
"Tell me. What's wrong?"
