01 | Sierra
I tiptoed as I was out, looking for familiar faces. After few scans I saw a huge black cardboard with white writings that says 'Welcome home Sierra!!!'. I smiled as I saw it and waved at them. Running towards them with a luggage on my side, which by the way is really heavy from all the things I got for these two important people in my life.
"Ate Sierra!" not-so-little Gabby hugged me tight.
"Ang laki mo na, babygirl."
"Ang ganda mo na, ate."
I smiled at her and ruined her hair, "Nambola ka pa." We both laugh and I glanced at the other figure.
Seeing Mama after so long, is really worth the wait. Honestly, first few days in States wasn't the best. I was longing for the both of them since I wasn't used to it. It was my first time to be away from them and I didn't imagine that it would be that hard. But then again, nasanay lang.
"Sierra." a deep voice called out which made me look at him. It's Ricky.
Right, before I left for school, my Mama married this wealthy man. Honestly, I don't know how they met but based on my Mom, they were friends from high-school that finally saw each other after many years. Thought it was cliché, but I'm happy for Mom.
I hugged him. "Nice to see you po, Tito." I greeted him and he smiled genuinely, wrinkles appearing on his face.
"Call me Papa. Remember, we are family now."
I just smiled and didn't answer. Mom cuts the freakin' awkwardness and told us to get going already. We decided to eat at a restaurant that the family goes once in a while at Bonifacio Global Center. I didn't decide since I know nothing at all, been gone for almost two freakin' years. You know, a lot of changes happens in a year. What change can two years would bring, right?
Tito Ricky pulled over in the parking lot, later on, we found ourselves inside BGC. We had dinner since I was tired and hungry from that long plane ride.
-;-
After dinner, we strolled around. I miss this, spending time with family. Sobrang laki ng pinagbago nina Mama at Gabby. I could say, they were taken care of really well which I'm happy about. Both of them matters to me.
"Ate, she looks familiar." Gabby pointed a girl few inches away, busy with her phone. A tall girl, medium length hair and the shoes. Wait... Hannah?
"I'm not sure, though." I mumbled to her then Gabby just shrug. I don't know if I should approach or not, because honestly, I don't know if she still remembers me. Maybe, Donny never talks about me and then suddenly they forgot or what. Or I thought, I don't know.
"Ate Sierra, let's buy there oh!" Gabby exclaims pulling me towards Candy Corner. I let myself follow her as we pass 'Hannah'.
Gabby picked her favorite candies and I did, too. I reached out the money to pay for the candies when I heard a person cleared it's throat.
"Uhm, Sierra?"
I turned around seeing Hannah, a smiled appeared on her face which made me smile a little. She remembers, oh wait.
"You can still remember me?" I ask confusingly.
"Of course, nobody forgets the Sierra Reyes." she said then pulling me into a hug. "How have you been?"
I pursed my lips and tried to smile a little, "Good. You?"
"Same. As an IB Diploma Candidate, it's really frustrating." she pouted which made me chuckle, remembering the good old days.
"I know right, but it's worth it though."
Hannah and I exchanged few chats before we finally bid our good-byes. She still had errands to run and we have to go home.
On the way home, they kept asking me about my college life and I was kind of taken back about my Mama asking about love life. Since when did they care about my love life, lol.
"I bet there's a lot of cute boys in Harvard," Tito Ricky chuckled.
"No, not really. Meron naman, pero nah." I frowned which made them chuckle.
"Si Donny kaya 'no?" I widen my eyes as to what Mom said. "Sobrang bait pa naman 'nun. Nag-uusap pa kayo ni Donny, nak?"
I shook my head, "Hindi na po."
"Well, sana mag-usap kayo ulit. Bagay pa naman kayo."
"Ma!"
"Okay, titigil na si Mama." she chuckled kissing my cheek.
After a thirty minute drive, we finally arrived. I hop out from the car seeing a huge house, a house that I would never thought that I would live in.
"Nice house." I said to Tito Ricky.
"Thanks, hija."
Well, I guess I'm home. I hope.
