After Troy's party, I haven't heard anything from Sierra. Do you expect Dons? Your dumb ass scared her away. At the same time, it was for the better. I have Sunny, my girlfriend. My girlfriend who loves and will never leave me. Or so I thought.
Sunny prepared korean food for dinner, typical Sunny. I'm not complaining, I love korean food and her company, however, it wasn't like how it used to be. I couldn't pinpoint which was odd—the fact that she's all dressed up or there are just too many food on the table. It felt like there's an occasion. "I don't think it's our monthsary, babe."
She finished placing the dishes on the table as she starts to cook the meat, she chuckled. "There's no occasion, Dons... I just wanted to do this." I smiled with what she said and took a spoonful of rice, "for the last time."
I was not sure what she was implying but I'm nervous. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"Diba we promised to be honest with each other, kahit ano pa 'yan?" she waited for me to respond so I nod, "So, I'm doing this now. I wanted to be honest with how I feel and I want you to answer my question honestly."
"Okay, shoot." I said confidently as I take a sip on my drink.
"Do you, by any chance, still love Sierra?"
Hold up–
I looked at her and she chuckled, "you should see your face, it's funny!" I don't get why she had to make a joke when it's not the right time. I leaned back on my chair and frowned.
"Now's not the right time for that."
"Ay, pikon."
"Why would you ask something like that?" Triggered na 'ko. "Are you even hearing yourself?"
She stopped eating and bumuwelo, "Of course, I've thought about this for a long time and I just couldn't find the right time ask about it."
"You shouldn't have asked about it 'cause it doesn't matter!" I exclaimed.
"It matters, Dons!" We both calmed down after shouting at each other fifteen seconds ago, "we promised to be honest with each other, please. Tell me."
I'm not quite sure what game Sunny is playing.
"I'm not playing around, Dons." she reassured.
I took a deep breath, reached for both of her hands and held it. "I'm sorry, Sun. 'Di ko rin alam kung bakit bumalik yung feelings ko sa kanya but I promise, lalayo ako and things will be better for us. I feel so shitty about the situation that I'm in. I swear I never meant to hurt you."
She smiled, I knew deep down she's in pain with what I did. Ang shitty mo, Donny. "It hurts." A tear fell from her cheek and I wiped it, moving my chair beside her. "I've seen it since the beginning, I knew it has always been her. You remember, when you got drunk, I was cleaning your mess and even if I was the one with you, beside you, you always call her name." she explained and laughed a bit, "you even called me by her name... It hurts a lot, Dons. It's painful to see you happy with someone else."
"I'm sorry."
"Even if I'm the girlfriend, you always have left your heart with her." I wrapped my arms around her and she sobs, I'd kiss her temple and whisper my sorries.
I realized that I never really thought about the consequences of my actions but here I am, seeing my girlfriend suffer. I knew I didn't deserve her, she deserves better and someone who will love her endlessly. Sunny is such a good person, I'd protect her at all cost but looks like I failed.
"I'm really sorry, Sun... but I promise, I will be better for you. You know how much I love you, right?" I said trying to make things better, 'yung parang I tried to put band-aid on a broken glass.
She sighed and looks at me, "But you love her more, right?"
"Babe, don't say tha—"
"'Cause it's true!" she wipes her tears, "let's stop lying to ourselves, Dons. We both know and probably everyone already knows how much you love her."
"But like I said, I will forget about her just please..." I begged.
Sunny shook her head 'no'. "I don't want you to feel any guilt because of loving someone so I'm letting you go." That's when I started to cry.
No, please.
"Sun, I promis—" I sobbed still shaking my head, she stopped me by cupping her pale hands on my face. I was also mumbling that she might hate me now.
"I don't hate you and will never hate you, my love." she smiled, "I want you to be happy and I know she will make you even happier. Don't ever lose her again."
And with that, I cried like there's no tomorrow. I was so lucky to have someone like Sunny.
Someone who will support the people she loves even if it hurts her sometimes.
