Mark steps through the door and hugs me. He inhales me while snuggling his head in my neck. I try to push him away but he grabs my hands and pulls them behind my back.
‘’I’ll listen to whatever you have to say and I’ll forgive you just tell me what’s going on.’’
My heart aches. What the hell am I supposed to do. How do I put into words that I don’t and never really needed him. I’ve only known him for two months…I was still trying to get to know him. I honestly don’t know how he’s going to react to what I plan on telling him. Gosh. Im a horrible person.
‘’Mark we can-‘’ I start but Zavians voice coming down the hallway cuts me off.
‘’Baby who is it?’’ he asks.
Mark tenses up and gently I push him away from me. A look passes through his eyes. I can’t really explain it. It’s like it came and went but I can tell that it wasn’t good. Nothing too drastic can go down right now. Harmony is here and I don’t want her to get hurt or anything. I know Zavian but I don’t know Mark that well which means I don’t know how he functions when he can get when he’s mad.
Zavian walks into the living room with just his jeans on and Harmony in his arm. I cough, ‘’Uh Zavian this is Mark. Mark this is Zavian…my fiancé.’’
He gives me a confused look, ‘’I thought you two called the engagement off.’’
Zavian glares at me. Maybe just maybe I left that part out earlier when we were talking. I sigh, ‘’See that’s what I have to talk to you about…’’
His eyes narrow and that look flashes through his eyes again. I continue anyway, ‘’Zavian and I never called off our engagement. We were just taking a break but we’re working things out now.’’
‘’You lied to me.’’ he bites out.
‘’Mark I really am sorry. You’re a great guy and I thank you for being there for Harmony and I. It all means so much to me but we can’t be together.’’
‘’So that’s it. Mr.NBA comes back into the picture and you just drop me?’’
‘’Mark no you’re taking it the-‘’
He takes a step towards me but Zavian blocks me and he takes a step backward. ‘’Watch it. Don’t get too close to her. I don’t know you man and the way you keep looking at her makes me not trust you. I already don’t like you for messing around with my girl but that was my fault for leaving her and opening the doors for a nigga like you with the opportunity to take what’s mine.’’
‘’I’ve been with her for almost two months while you were gone. I’ve been close with her.’’ he says irritation lacing his voice and putting emphasis on the word close.
‘’Well I’m back so things aren’t the same anymore.’’
