Chapter One! The First Home

I only wake up to little expectations. I don't ever expect much, and I never will. The orphanage has been my home since forever. But of course, the normal loudness of the old rickety Orphanage was instantly covered in silence. I must've gotten up late, because some of the younger children were taking their midday naps.

Most kids didn't want to be awake, it was always a chore to be awake. Really. The owner of this old place is Harrieta Olsen. Her husband died 4 years ago, and since then, the place has been dark and like a real horror movie. We have normal chores, like clean the rooms, cook breakfast, etc, then we have nasty chores, such as cleaning the basement (which some people believe was a crime scene for homicide.)

I, of course, am one of the eldest children, so my chores are more easy. I have simple ones, such as taking care of children, and cooking the meals. More or less, alot more than the younger kids. Seeing as all they make is the cereal and toast. I make pancakes, eggs, etc.

Signing off, Liliana Wolfia

It was Monday, the worst day of the week, That, however, did not stop Miss Oleson from calling everyone into the main area, where children gathered to be adopted. I've only been down here for a calling, once? I've never been called down for anything in particular. I don't know what it is that draws people away from me.

Perhaps its because of my wolf ears, or because I am a werewolf. But, just because I'm so different, doesn't make me hateful.

It might be because I never go out and try and be too social. Nobody likes me very much, though. I think if I ask around, people will lie and say they do like me, but that doesn't ever convince me. Even if the truth hurts, its much better than listening to hopeful lies.

I slowly made my way down the four flights of steps. I wasn't very hopeful. It seemed like most people were drawn away from my physical being.

So, what I didn't expect, was to see three kids standing blankly in the middle of the room, with Oleson behind them, smiling so badly, that she looked like she was cringing. But it must'nt've felt good to have nearly all the children get adopted, then get more, but, she owned the orphange, it was her problem, not the kids.

The kids, however, had ears and tails like me. The eldest boy had fox ears, and a fluffy tail. The eldest girl (my age) had tiger ears and a black and white sleek tail. And the little girl didnt have any signs of being a half-animal

"Good afternoon children!" She called out. "Today, we are gaining three new kids today!" Her screechy voice echoed throughout the halls. I wanted to cover my ears, but new better than to. I didn't need a beating today. "I expect you will accept them with warmth and comfort. For now, they will be staying with, err." She glanced around, and locked eyes with me. "Liliana." She supplied, catching her mistake instantly.

I knew Oleson didn't hate me, because I did as I was told without complaint, I mean, after all, she was paying for us to have a roof over our head, food in our stomach's, and a bed to sleep on, but come on! I loved my quiet empty, and not to mention large room. But I suppose some company wouldn't be bad.

The three new kids walked towards me. I smiled warmly. "Hi. I'm Liliana." I said calmly as possible, trying to ignore the rising feeling of regret in my stomach. I wanted to clench it tightly, to make the pain go away, but such wasn't possible.

"I'm Brianna." Said one of the two girls. She had long wavy black hair, and bright green eyes. Her skin was paler than mine. She was my height, so she must've been my age.

"I'm uh, Jake." Said the boy. He was taller than both girls, and much taller than me. He had short shaggy brown hair, slightly styled up. His eyes were dark amber, and not to mention, very cold. Unlike Brianna, he seemed much older than me.

"Hi Miss! I'm Ari!" The smallest girl, who looked probably seven smiled and waved up to me. She was very cute and small. She had pale blonde hair, and warm blue eyes. She hugged my waist tightly.

"Ari, don't kill her now!" Warned Brianna, hugging the little girl named Ari. Ari, returned the hug gratefully, now squeezing Brianna as tightly as possible. When the two let go, Brianna was gasping for breath. I let her catch up on it.

"I'm the fourth floor up, you're gonna need your breath." I said calmly. She nodded gratefully, and caught up quite quickly.

I started up the stairs, checking a few rooms to make sure the majority of the children were still peacefully in bed, and made sure nobody needed anything, before proceeding to the fourth, and top floor.

I opened the dark oak door to a light gray room. It had about 7 beds in total, one, the closest near the window, was occupied. The sheets on the occupied bed were dark blue with white lining, and the fourposter bed, was a light mahogany.

"You can choose any bed you want. That one is mine." I indicated the blue bed. Brianna took the bed opposite mine, and Ari took the bed next to me. Jake, however chose the closest to the door. It was obvious he wasn't a very open person.

After a few hours of the room becoming liveable to multiple people, I took a seat on my bed, exhausted. We had to go to the nearby bedding store to buy bedding and pillows. And, by Ari's request, tons of stuffed animals.

When we had finished it was nearly two in the morning. I was so exhausted, (and by the looks of it, everyone else was too.) The second we got to the room, Ari fell on her bed and passed out, clutching a little horse stuffed animal, Brianna got ready for bed and fell asleep shortly after, Jake, however just changed and fell asleep.

Me? I began writing away in the dark blue notebook I had recieved years ago from my original parents.

New friends, New times, were the first words I wrote down.
