Chapter 16

Adri's POV

It's been a month since I was discharged from the hospital.

Life has pretty much gone back to normal. Well except for one of the biggest parts of my life; Chris.

My mother, being the horrid person she is, has refused to let me visit him. It's been super hard getting used to not seeing or talking to him everyday.

His mom called me the other day and told me he's awake. Chris woke up about a week ago and the doctors have determined that he is infact paralyzed from the waist down.

He also has pretty bad memory loss and the doctors still don't know if it's permanent or not. It's still possible for him to get his legs and memory back which is why his parents have made the move official.

They've already packed up most of the house and are planning to move in two  days. As of now, the move is permanent since it will of course take Chris a while to go through his rehabilitation.

It's been a pretty hard thing for me to get over but so far I think I'm doing pretty good. I love Chris and I know that this is the best thing for him.

I'm not going to stand in the way of him getting the best treatment possible. I know things aren't going to get easier anytime soon but I know it will eventually. He needs to get better, because I honestly don't know what I'll do if he doesnt.

Life always surprises you with unexpected things, whether they're good or bad. What's important is the way you deal with these unexpected things.

"Knock, knock" my mom says as she slowly opens up my bedroom door. "You hungry? I'm about to go cook breakfast."

"No thanks, I just want to watch Netflix and sleep all day. Some ice cream would be nice though."

"Adri, you can't just lay around all day like the world is ending. You've been stuck on bedrest for over a month, yet when you're finally off of it you still don't want to leave the house" she says sitting on the edge of my bed. "Go out! Hang with your friends, do something! At least go to school! I know most of your classes are online but come on you're ruining the fun of High School!"

"Fine. I'll go to school tomorrow, just stop the lecture please."

"Good. Oh and take a shower, you stink" she says walking to the door.

"Haha, thanks I get it from my mama!" I say laughing.

"No, I'm pretty sure you got that stench from your father!"

I get on to Tumblr and scroll through my newsfeed. Liking and reblogging pictures. After about twenty minutes I finally get up to take a long hot shower.

I don't know what it is, but I normally take super long showers and make life determining decisions in the shower. And this morning, I've decided that I'm going to live my life. Life is too short to sit around and drown in your problems.

I've been through too much shit the past month and it's made me realize the true value of life and youth. I only have about a year and a half left of High School, and I'm going to spend it well.

I get out the shower and grab my phone calling the only friend I have, literally.

"Are you busy tonight? Because I really need to go out!"

"Don't you just hate bitches who are supposed to be your bestfriend but only hit you up when they wanna party? They don't even wanna hang out with you when shit's cool but as soon as they need to go out and get turnt they wanna call you. It's really a shame how some people just use me-"

"Mya shut up! This is literally a life chrisis and you know I love you, it's just so much has been going on lately. And I just texted you like two days ago so cut the sad story and help me out!"

"I'm kidding! Calm down, I'm not Chris I don't like you when it when you get all fiesty. I'll be at your house in about 30 minutes, we have some catching up to do! See ya then love, text me!" she says before hanging up.

And that ladies and gentleman, is why Kamya Michelle Harris is my bestfriend.
