thunderstorms

Overnight calls lead to me falling asleep at some point, along with storms appearing only hours later.

I wake and my apartment is shaking from the lightning and thunder going on outside.

My heart is beating fast and in my sleepiness I'm scared.

There's rain pattering against my bedroom window, it sounds like needles and daggers scratching at the glass.

But in the midst of all my fear you're still on the call, and I hear your somehow steady breathing in one ear.

I put in the other earbud and close my eyes, listening to your sleep and calm down almost immediately.

My breath evens out, and even though thunder continues to boom I'm as calm as ever.

I fall back asleep thinking of you, wanting nothing more than to actually be in your arms warm and safe rather than miles away alone in bed listening to you on a call.

I'm so grateful for you,

I love you more than anything in the universe.
