Sara rubbed her brows, aggravated. There were so much things wrong with her car, they all intertwined. A new mechanic had evaluated her car because patch ran off. Thousands of dollars to get it running.

She has no money, nothing of monetary value. She's not able to get a payday loan, her credit is shit, and she has maxed out all her credit cards.

She needs her car. For her job, for school, to get out of this shithole.

The door opened, causing her to look up.

Derek walked into the office, in his coveralls filled with grease and oil on his skin. Several hairs had escaped his ponytail, adding a soft exotic look to his face. She tried to smell him, but the smell of burnt oil and rust covered up his scent, not allowing her to determine his mood.

He is very good at hiding his emotions, and probably make a killing at poker.

"Good afternoon, Sara. Please follow me." She stood up and followed. He led her threw the garage, and into a small hallway then a small office with two chairs a computer and a small three drawer filing cabinet.

She sat down as Derek sat opposite of her behind the desk.

"your car is a lemon." He said, straight on to the point. She mentally winced but nodded.

"I haven't gotten the money to fix any of it. I can't even go on a payment plan, I am only a part time waitress, and I only get 3 dollars an hour." She raked a hand threw her hair and adjusted her glasses.

Derek was silent, giving her a chance to calm down. He leaned forward onto his fore arms.

"I have a proposition for you." She glanced up at that, suddenly weary.

"what proposition?" she asked, unbending.

"you let us keep your car, for parts scraps or anything, and I will give you a car. Someone brought it in, couldn't afford it so he left it. Its been six months, its already fixed and its no problem for us to insure it."

Her heart stopped beating as shock over took her.

"you... you want to...give me a car?" she whispered in disbelief. There Is no way that she would get a car for nothing.

But he nodded. "its not just giving it away, we will keep your car, do what ever we want to do with it, in exchange for a smaller car." She couldn't breath as those words tore threw her.

"there isn't a catch or anything right? No sex, money or favors?"

"I am happily married, with two children and a beautiful wife, I have all the money I need and know way more higher ups that owe me a favour then a broke high school girl." She still couldn't believe it.

"why are you being so nice to me?" she muttered.

He didn't say anything, just glanced at her flat stomach. "we aren't all assholes." Was all he said.

She started to cry. Great big sobs, tears streaming down her face. her shoulders where trembling so hard her vision was shaky.

She felt Derek come around her and pat her on the shoulder. "there is no fine print or strings. Let me help you."

"it is the single nicest thing someone has ever done for me."

"well, I am giving you a working car." She sniffled, and he offered her a tissue from the corner of his desk, and she gladly took one.

He went back to her desk as she wiped her eyes. He pulled out a pink slip and slid it towards her.

Taking a breath, she signed it, and spent the next thirty minutes talking about insurance and setting it up.
