I missed breakfast which meant that I had missed Claire and Shaun.
Ugh!!! I thought, Why does nothing ever go my way!
I went to first class of the day, Combat. I would see Shaun there. If I was his partner for today then I could talk to him about what happened yesterday.
As it turned out I was his partner, so I started talking about what happened yesterday. But before I could get any answers he said something that I had never noticed before.
"You do realise that you're the only girl here Jess?!"
"Oh God! I am am't I! Jeez." I hadn't even noticed before.
"You'll be the only female guardian grad from the year in four months time." He said
"So that's why everyone is looking at me like I'm a weird circus freak or some foreign thing."
"No Jess! They're looking at you because you're hot! You're certainly the hottest girl I've ever met!"
I blushed, it was at times like these that he was really open and I could see the affection he had for me in his deep forest green eyes. I was snapped out of my thoughts when Miss Jackson shouted,
"Taylor! Parks! Would you like to come up and show the class what you've been practising today"
"Actually Miss, not really." I said, which got me a laugh and a half from the class.
"That wasn't an option Miss Parks. Get up here. You too Mr Taylor."
"Fine. Jeez we're coming."
Shaun was panicking and I could see he was about to pass out or something so I said,
"Look just do what we normally do. You know kick, punch and all the other stuff ok."
When we got up to the mats where Miss Jackson was she said,
"Right, stand on the mats."
"Right, ok then" I said in a mocking tone, everyone laughed even Shaun.
"This is what you have to do when fighting in practice ok guys?" I said making sure that; one Shaun was ready and two that everyone was following the story so far.
They all were and Shaun gave me a knowing look. I threw a punch and hit him in the chest he then kick me in the stomach. I stumbled but didn't fall. I then kick him - harder than I meant to - and he fell backwards. Everyone clapped and cheered. I smiled and Shaun smiled as I helped him up.
We stood there while Miss Jackson wrote something in her ever present notebook. Then she gave us a nod and said,
"Well executed Parks, you to Taylor. You both did a good job. But please don't ever let me catch you to talking in my class again. Ok?" She said in an exasperated voice.
"Yes Ma'am!" I said and saluted at the same time. I heard some people giggle but that was it.
"Class dismissed!" Shouted Miss Jackson.
We all left and I went to my next class, Science. I'm pretty crap at science but I have one of the best teachers here at the academy and she's really nice. So that kinda helps.
"Right class, today we're doing some revision for your upcoming test. Ok"
"Ugh. No I'd rather not do that Miss." I said
"That wasn't a question Miss Parks."
"Oh. Sorry Miss though it was." I replied
"Does it look like I'm a questioning person?"
"Well, I don't know you just asked a question... So... I'd have to think about my answer to that."
"Today class we're doing out biology revision so get into your pairs please."
Well I guess that was good cause I was with Shaun so we could talk a little. I looked around the class to find no Shaun anywhere. So I went up to Mrs Bruce.
"Miss. Where's Shaun? He was here, like, a minute ago."
"He said that he had a meeting with Ms. Brown so I take it that he's with her."
"Oh, and can I go to the toilet please?" I asked, which was a lie 'cause I was gonna go look for Shaun.
"Yes, be quick though."
"Ok. Thanks Miss."
I started my search at Ms Brown's office.
I got to Ms Brown's office door and knocked lightly. When no one answered I knocked again a little harder. I was about to give up and leave, when I heard noises coming from inside the room.
I put my ear to the door. Listened for about three minutes before I recognised any of the voices.
OH MY GOD!! I thought, This can't be happening!!
I was about to burst the door down when out came Ms Brown.
"Miss Parks!" Said a very surprised Ms Brown.
"Oh. Hiya Miss I was just about to knock." I said.
"Well what do you need?"
"Mrs Bruce was wondering if Shaun could come back to class with me please?" I replied.
"Oh, right...em...Oh of course... yes, yes, he can go."
I was confused by her hesitation but she was letting Shaun come back to class with me so that was fine.
