I was with my Mum and my Gran when I was told.
I truthfully didn't understand the whole thing but I went with it anyway.
It turns out I was getting chucked out my house (well going to boarding school) away from all my friends and family. It was the last term of the year and I knew that I wouldn't have got to see anyone for a while but it still hurt. I mean all my friends would be coming back after summer and me... well I wouldn't be.
I walked up to the school gates they were really tall and I didn't know why on all the earth they had spikes on them...
The building behind the gates was big. I mean really big, huge, massive but I guessed that there must be an awful lot of children in there.
The gates had swung open with a creak which soundly really, really creepy.
I was all alone. Standing there, in the middle of nowhere with no family, no friends.
I walked over to the big desk looking thing in the middle of the grounds, (it reminded me of the Lego land ticket booth) where a woman sat. She asked me my name and age which I said gladly hoping to soon get away from this creep of an old lady.
She had pointed me to the direction of a post that was dug into the ground. It had little arrow signs on it, I followed the one pointing towards the ten year olds bit in hope that was where I was meant to be. I was ten so I thought I would make sense at the time.
Turned out I was right I was introduced to my class mates most of whom took a liking to me instantly.
I was put into a pair with a girl called Claire Lona. Her real name was Clairesminia Lonasytisme but we shortened it. We got on really well, I was usually not very good with my people skills but this girl was my friend.
No one had told me what this school was or why I was here so I asked her.
"It's a school for Vampires and their families. Oh and also the Dhampirs." She had told me,
"The what-irs?!?" I asked completely shocked.
"Well I'm a vampire and you are a Dhampir, half vampire half human." She explained.
Ok well that kinda made sense. She also went on to tell me about the Vamps and Dhamps. She showed me the difference between all three of us, Vampires, Dhampirs and Humans. There's not much of a difference in us dhamps and humans but there is definitely a difference with the vamps and the humans.
A dhampir has the job of becoming a Guardian. Someone to protect the good vampires, the Bunyas but to kill the evil sick blood sucking vampires, the Stiricats.
I was separated after a few minutes from Claire. But we didn't want to separate so we made a big show about it. In the end we both got pulled away from each other by the two strongest dhampirs of the time.
I was placed with a group of kids exactly like me. All dhampirs. After a little bit of making friendships and stuff, (which I didn't take part in) we were given free choice.
This boy came up to me and offered me to shake his hand. I did and I felt so much better for it. His name was Shaun Taylor. Me and him from then on agreed to be best friends.
I introduced him to Claire and he was speechless I asked him why he wasn't talking and he pulled me aside and said,
"Do you know who she is?!" He sounded really excited.
"Yeah that's your new best friend, like me, Claire." I said blandly
"Yeah I know that, but she's one of the Royals!"
"Now I'm really confused?!!" I said.
So Claire and Shaun explained to me what being a Royal meant.
That took up the rest of my first day at this weird but wonderful school.
I had to say good bye to Claire because the vamp's dorms was on the other side of the primary school to the dhamp's dorms.
Everyone all ready had there rooms sorted out so I was just put in a room (which was pretty plain) by myself. I was glad I brought posters cause honestly I wouldn't have managed without them.
Yeah, I was thinking, I'm gonna like it here.
My name is Jessica Parks and I am a student at St Brams Academy for Vampires and their Guardians.
