You woke up to sunlight pouring over your body, warming your exposed skin. The dress that Hanji gave you still covered your form as you never changed last night before falling asleep. You had fallen asleep rather quickly, after thinking over what had happened to you during the night, resulting in you forgetting to change, and to close the balcony door. The glass doors were open wide, welcoming the cool air blown in by the slight breeze. Outside, birds chirped in the trees and the hustle and bustle from the villagers could be heard from the village.
Ever so slowly, you rose up from your soft mattress and stretched. Your back was knotted from a fitful sleep. Frowning, you rolled your shoulders in hopes to rid some of the knots, but then gave up and left your bed.
It felt odd; to just wake up and continue life as normal, despite the fact that you had been introduced to many supernatural creatures in the night.
Vampires...
Bram Stoker met them?
Then how did he meet them?
As you walked over to your dressing table, there was a slight knock at the door. You cast your eyes over to the door as you sat down on the cushioned stool. A few seconds after you answered the knock, the door opened.
"Lady Y/N, breakfast is ready," Mr Smith announced, "your mother won't be attending, she is rather ill at the moment." He raised an eyebrow at your new garments, "you're already clothed?"
You nodded, but with a grim expression. "She is ill? What happened?"
"I suspect it is just some sickness - coughing and sneezing. The doctor is visiting soon, I think she will be okay," he explained with a slight smile.
Relief ran through you and you gave a small, thankful smile to Mr Smith.
He turned to leave, but stopped to cast his gaze over you one last time. "You've got dirt on your face, my lady. Would you like me to get you a wet cloth to wash it off?"
You turned your head to the large, ornate mirror on your dressing table and studied your appearance. On your right cheek, there was a dark smear. You sneered at it and turned your head, spotting another smear on your nose. Looking over to Mr Smith, you nodded and he left the room. Clearly, the speed at which Levi ran was fast enough for you to collide with random bugs in the forest.
You dabbed your face with the wet cloth that Mr Smith had delivered you, removing all of the smears from your face. After your face was clean, you left your room to take your place at the breakfast table.
Conversation was lacking, due to the absence of your mother. You ate breakfast quietly while your father read the newspaper, grumbling at certain articles.
With the lack of conversation, you let your thoughts wander. The younger vampire, Eren, had mentioned a pack of rogue vampires...the Titans. Through Levi's reactions, you gathered that they were dangerous. And attacking strongholds? Did they only target other vampires?
"Have you seen this, Y/N?" Your father grumbled. He gripped the paper and passed it to you. "Even more deaths."
You took the thin newspaper and cast your eyes over it. There was another death last night, somewhere in the village. You frowned, did Levi go back to the village? No, he wasn't stupid enough to return to the place where he was nearly caught. That meant it had to be someone else...
Would it be bad to go and investigate at night?
Most likely.
It was probable that not all vampires were as patient as Levi.
"Have they not yet caught the killer, father?" You asked, hoping for more information.
"Well, what do you think?" He asked as you handed the paper back. "I think the villagers are conducting a search tonight."
"A search?" You repeated. Perhaps you could help search with them? If there was any way to find another vampire then maybe you could be exposed to more of their world?
"Yes, I-" he was cut off by a knock at the door. He waited until he heard someone leave to answer it before continuing, "I suspect it won't go too well."
You hummed in slight agreement before leaving the table.
Something stirred within you. A boring, mundane, safe life just wasn't for you. After a taste of adventure, you lusted for more. There was something that existed within the same world as you and you only believed it to exist within your books.
It was exciting. Dangerous, but exciting.
If you kept yourself hidden then you could integrate within the villagers and try to find the new killer.
