Lily's POV

We walked down the stairs and entered the living room. Dylan was casually stood leaning against the wall with his back to us. However, as soon as we came in, he turned and smiled. Dylan gave me a look as if to say 'we need to talk. Don't even try to argue.' I sighed and bent down to Rose's level. "There's another girl in the back yard, Bethany, who's dying to meet you. Why don't you play with her for a bit and make friends?" I asked gently. I'd seen Bethany looking at us as we'd come down and she looked like she really wanted to be Rose's friend. Rose bit her lip and looked at me sadly. "But I don't know how to make friends. What of she doesn't like me?" She whispered. Poor girl. I sighed. "Of course she'll like you! Who wouldn't?" Still crouched down at her level, I gave her a hug and stood up. "Come on. I'll take you out and introduce you. Okay?" I took her hand and she reluctantly followed me. All the while, I could feel Dylan's gaze boring into my back but I ignored him. Anything to prolong the inevitable conversation! Once in the backyard, I led Rose up to Bethany and did the introductions. "Bethany, meet Rose. Rose, this is Bethany. How about you girls have fun and play?" The girls looks at each other wearily but nodded. "Stay in this yard though. Okay?" They both nodded and I smiled at them before turning around to head back inside. When I looked back again, they were smiling happily and playing with some garden toys.

Dylan was waiting for me in the living room when I returned. The advantage of the living room was that there was a large window looking onto the backyard. Perfect. I kept Rose and Bethany in the corner if my eye while sitting down on the sofa curled up, my head against Dylan's chest. "You're so good with children Lily. You'd make a great mum." He murmured softly, stroking my hair. My heart sped up and Mia purred in joy. "You'd make a great dad." I responded quietly. A silence fell and I knew the question he was about to ask. "So, Lily... Tell me what happened." "Do you want tea? I'm dying for a cup-" I asked, jumping up. "Lily." He cut me off, grabbing my wrist firmly but gently. I sighed and sat back down, placing my head on his chest again but looking up at him. When I stayed silent, he repeated "Tell me, please." It was just like old times, history repeating itself and it was scary. I still remembered when he'd rescued me from Jack all the time ago and me telling him my story. When I knew he'd get it out of me eventually, I ducked my head down. Just as I was about start, he put his finger under my chin and gently tilted it up until I was forced to look him in the eye. Big mistake. I was forced to look into his eyes and my wolf was howling at me. She was cross we were denying telling our mate the truth. His eyes held everything I needed and wanted to know. His eyes were full of honesty, sympathy, understanding and love. Sighing, I started and told him. Everything.

Dylan's POV

She looked down. She looked so sad, ashamed... And vulnerable. I loved her. She was so amazing and perfect. And she was mine. She was my beautiful, perfect mate and it tore me apart seeing her so sad. I tilted her chin up so she was looking me in the eye. I would always love her. No matter what. I would love her until my heart stops, and even after that. She is my end and beginning and I would die without her. She is my whole world. She- Her voice bought me out of my thoughts as she began her story. I had I feeling I wasn't going like this, one bit.
