The illumination coming from her readied palms quickly retreated as soon as Tony floated down next to her. His metallic arms crossed against his chest, leaving little light for the glowing orb she'd learned was actually "apart" of him.
"Tony Stark," Thanos chuckled darkly, mimicking the robotic man's stance, "Did you come here hoping for a death sentence?"
Tony shook his head, "Not really, Mister Purple. Thanks, though."
"Wasn't an offer."
"Didn't think so."
The tension that had been built from (Y/N) and Thanos previously quickly dispersed into thin air. Tony made the whole situation a joke, probably hoping he could hide the fear that was prevalent in his aura. If he tried to tell her he wasn't afraid, she'd call him crazy. Everybody was afraid of Thanos. Even her. Why wouldn't she be? A man with the powers of a God standing before her could snap her in half like a twig and then make her relive the same death over and over again. Rejecting her fear would only make it worse.
"Where's your friends?" Thanos asked, looking passed Tony and over him it seemed like, "Don't tell me they're trying to hide. It doesn't work like that."
"What? Afraid of a little hide-and-seek?"
Tony, stop it. You're only making this worse.
"Joke all you want, Mr. Stark. Your death will be the biggest one of them all."
"Ya know," Tony started walking forward, messing with some sort of gadget on his wrist that was too far away from (Y/N) for her to make out, "People keep telling me that today and ya know what? I've never really been one for comedic endings, more on the soft-side if you ask me."
"Stark!"
He turned around, eyeing (Y/N), "What, lady? You gotta-lotta talkin' to do or you wanna fight instead?"
She stepped forward and grabbed him by the forearm, pulling him back, "Do you know who the hell that is?" She pointed to Thanos, who kept his arms crossed and eyed them, bemused. "You're talking to a being that could kill you and everyone you love. This isn't a joke!"
Tony scoffed and flicked his wrist upward toward Thanos, a glowing ball of light began to radiate from his metallic palm and (Y/N) watched on in terror.
He's really going to attack him. Now. Without a plan. Without a second thought.
"You must really want to die, Mr. Stark." She whispered and allowed a faint purple glow to be cast from the very center of her palm. Without warning, Tony's body flew back—way, way back—and she heard the faintest "no" in the distance.
It was for his own good. He was about to take on a suicide mission. She couldn't let him do that. Too many people had died in front of her before. If she had any way to possibly keep it from happening, that's what she would do. Tony was of no significance to her, but a life—Titanian, human, elven—it didn't matter—all were important. Life was significant. She couldn't let somebody throw theirs away when she knew they didn't need to.
"Still possess empathy," Thanos muttered, letting his hands fall to his sides, the gauntlet clang!-ing against his lower half, "Something the people of Titan could never stop having."
"You must have a thing for talking," She sighed, her hands coming up in front of her face while her eyes observed the pink-ish hue that danced just before the two of them, "Something you must've gotten from Titan, too, huh?"
"This was my home, too."
"You killed it. You don't get to call it home."
"Clearly not. You're still here."
"Oh, for Christ sake—"
(Y/N)'s body suddenly levitated in the air, her eyes resembled the pink that burned in her palm and she didn't give her actions a second thought before she let the magic drain from her hand and deliver a harsh blow to the side of Thanos' face. A loud grunt spilled out of the monster's mouth, but not before a small swatch of blood dripped from his top lip. Satisfied, a small grin decorated her lips; a red blaze took the place of the pink that had cradled her hand and suddenly swept into his skin but did not disperse. Instead, it outlined his entire body and flung him upward, his being suspended in thin air while her eyes stayed trained on the gauntlet he was trying to maneuver.
I can't let him use that. He may only have three stones, but he's much stronger than me. He could switch this reality in two seconds flat and suddenly become the king all over again.
The wind whipped violently around the two. Her (H/C) hair pushed its way passed her shoulders, giving the luminescence of colors that created her silhouette a chance to become just as vibrant; she held all the colors of the wind, it spoke to her in seconds. The planet would not fall away from her.
She wouldn't let it.
Titan would cradle her, save her, help her just as she had it.
Her hope burned like the fire she encased herself with.
And Thanos would know no mercy.
He would understand little compassion.
He would finally know true balance.
One where his existence was unnecessary.
"You want mercy?" She seethed, tears flowing freely down her face with rage and bereavement. She advanced closer to him; fear no longer evident. She was not afraid of him. He could do nothing.
Her small hand fell at the base of his throat, nails digging into his alien flesh.
"I'll show you mercy."
