Chapter 9: Living Life So Reckless.

I’ve been living with my dad for the past six days. It’s really quit nice to wake up and not worry about having to carry a fully grown man to his bedroom. The three days that I spent with my dad were nice; I met most of the family like my grandparents and the girls. Val, Michelle, Gena, Lindsey and my dad’s girlfriend Lacy. I’m not too sure about her, she seems kind of shady but if he likes her than I put my trust into him. She was really surprised to find out her boyfriend had a kid that’s fourteen years old. I think everyone was. Val, Michelle, Gena, Lindsey and Lacy took me out for some school clothes which were uncalled for. I didn’t need anymore clothes.

School: A place to go to be poked prodded and pushed until they can’t poke, prod and push you any more.  It’s a place where the beautiful people eat the freaks for lunch then puke out shit insults. I might only be in the ninth grade but I feel like I’ve been in high school my whole life.

I stood against the pillar in a pair of new skin tight jeans, a graphic tee that was layered with a checkered light jacket and a new pair of white Doc Martins that were on sale for ten bucks. I drank my can of apple juice while scanning the outside benches for enemies.

I’ve picked up a few bad habits from Roger over the years, like my temper. I have a bad temper when it comes to school and students. I mean seriously, I see you every day. Isn’t that torture enough? I haven’t made any friends and I’ve been bullied beyond belief. I hated this school but I loved living with my dad. And if he wants me to go to this school then I’ll just have to suck it up and take it.

My nerves became fiery when a few bleach blonde girls came up to me wearing mini skirts and hoodies, trying to be ‘scene’ girls. I huffed and looked away. They stood in front of me and popped their hips out as their arms cross their chests. One had black hair and green eyes; she wore a bunch of brand name clothing. Another had blue hair and blue eye brows to make the raccoon like eyes. And the leader of the group was bleached blonde with raccoon eyes. All of them obliviously bleached their skin and wore way too much make up.

“So you must be the new freshman in town.” The bleach blonde said. I nodded with a devious smirk.

“I’ve been here nearly a week, I’m not so new.” I replied. They made a weird face at me with a snooty attitude. I felt cheeky for saying that. I guess me being a smart ass is going to get me into trouble.

“I heard your dad is in a famous band.” The one with blue hair said. The blonde one’s hand shot up and seized the blue haired girl’s voice. I rolled my eyes and glared at them with a less than pleased expression.

“Yeah, so what’s it to you?” I asked. The blonde smiled devilishly and swayed her body from side to side.

“I can make sure you’re high school rep is really good.” The blonde suggested. I shook my head and made a face as my temper was lost in a flash of annoyed anger.

“Sorry but I don’t want to be a wannabe.” I said then tried to walk away, the blonde’s arm stuck out stopping me from any further movement. Her racoon eyes narrowed at me evilly.

“I high suggest you take my offer or I’ll make sure the next four years of you life is hell.” She threatened. I bit my lip and pretended to think about it. I looked up at her with a cheeky smile.

“My answer is still no way in bloody hell. And I’m not afraid of your empty threats.”I said then smacked her arm away from me. I felt my body fall back to the ground and a heavy mass sit on top of me, slapping and clawing me. I knew I was in a fight by the way the crowd chanted ‘fight’ over and over again. I pushed her off of me, she lay beside me letting me kneel over her, my fingers balled into a fist and repeatedly making contact with her face. She cried loudly. The large crowd scattered while I stayed on what I was doing.

I was pulled to my feet by a large man. He stood a foot taller than me. His balding head made me realize it was the principal who had me by the scruff of my collar. Mr Pomeranski was a tough guy for an old timer. He must’ve been in his sixties. Either way he was scary as shit.

Walking through the halls to his office with my head hung in shame made me feel empowered but stupid at the same time. Mr Pomeranski practically threw me into his office before he talked to me like I was a child. His stern tone made me feel even dumber.

“Here at Huntington Beach High School we accept zero violence. This is not a good way to start off you’re stay.” He said with a snap of the voice like a crack of the whip. I sank into the seat and watched as he called my dad. After he got off the phone with my dad Mr Pomeranski handed me a tissue so I could clean the blood from my nose. I knew I had some cuts and bruises on my face and arms.

My shame increased when my dad came in through the door with a disappointed expression on his face. I didn’t want to disappoint him but it’s not my fault. If someone is trying to beat me up then I’ll fight back, it’s in my human nature.

“Mr Sullivan, nice to see you again even under the circumstances.” Mr Pomeranski said with an all of a sudden sugary tone. I rolled my eyes and watched as the two men shook hands. Jimmy sat down in the seat beside me with a pretty disappointed expression in his eyes. I tried to hide under my hair but that was useless.

“What happened, principal Pomeranski?” Jimmy asked with his gaze on the principal.

“It appears your daughter has been a bit of a misfit by getting into a fight with another student.”

“She started it.” I uttered ungratefully.

“Regardless you do not beat someone up.” Jimmy said in a snap. I frowned and shook my head.

“She really started it; she pushed me to the ground and started whaling on me. What was I supposed to do? Say ‘hey miss, I very much dislike you bashing my face in so can you get off me?’ No you don’t, you fight back.” I explained, crossing my arms over my chest.

“Mr Sullivan I’m afraid I’m going to have to suspend Peasnie for a week after only three days of school.” Mr Pomeranski said and wrote something down. Jimmy took the paper and read it carefully before glaring at me, we got dismissed from the office and I had to go get my things from my locker. I walked beside Jimmy with an ashamed feeling pitting my stomach. By now break was over and class was back in. The morning sun was now hidden behind the clouds.

“I didn’t start it though.” I said softly. Jimmy put his hand on my shoulder.

“I know, don’t worry. That girl’s dad used to pick on me all the time when I went here.” He said in a quiet voice. I bobbed my head up with a sly smirk.

“Really? I’m not in trouble?” I asked. Jimmy shook his head and laughed.

“Don’t worry. You’re safe.” He replied with a lively tone.

This man is awesome. He really is, it’s starting to make me wonder what his flaws are. He can’t be this perfect and not have some thing wrong with him. I’m gonna find out what.
