Jesse's POV:
I look at her from across the fountain. The same place we first met. I remember it crystal clear. The rain, her laugh, her charisma. But just as clear I could notice the difference.
How dark her green eye's gotten to a near black. How skinny she seem. The size of her sleeves. I grip the black hoodie over my head tighter.
I was doing this for her. For her and Bryan, as much as I hated the thought on my tongue.
Zoe sits on a bench and stares off, her face blank. Her eyes roam the park, seeming bored when they stop with mines. I freeze, as her eyes widen. She gets up in one swift movement, and for a moment her eyes cast a light shade.
I pull the hoodie over my head as I start running.
I can't let her see me.
Not yet.
