A/N: This features you and General Iroh II, in the original storyline of LOK. Long story short, you two meet in an unexpected way, and come to be well, quite close.

The song at the top is something I could totally see someone doing some seriously badass firebending to. It's called "I am the Fire," and it's by Halestorm. I thought it fit this section well.

I hope you think so, too, and enjoy it!
Let's do it, then!

"{Y/N}!" You sighed as you knew the inevitable was happening once more. Footsteps ascended the staircase, and you rolled over, facing the window nearest your bed. The sapphire skies had grown dark and the sun no longer filled their limitless expanses.

The woman repeated herself. "{Y/N}!" As she stood over you, you ignored her, turning again to face the slowly blossoming night. You inhaled, and the light, pleasant scent of jasmine blooming in the gardens below filtered in through the open panes. "You neglected to practice again!" Though it was a statement, she formed it like a question, perhaps in hope of being wrong. She rarely was.

"Mom. I'm sorry." You rolled over, the aroma on the night air a siren's call, in spite of the lack of outside dive you'd face now, as dusk was nearly settled; the moon provided the world a different sort of strength, one reserved for people you'd quietly envied all your life. "I'll go now."

"You won't get much accomplished unless you train during the day! Firebenders-"

"I know!" You closed your eyes in exasperation, not wanting to disrespect to the woman who raised you, largely alone. Your father was busy, gone away frequently, and it's not like his absence helped your emotional state of late, but it definitely didn't hurt your family's financial state, for, well, generations. "We rise with the sun. We get our energy from the sun! The sun is the source of our power! The sun. The sun. The sun!"

You didn't really do the best job of being gracious, but you never really were graceful in essence. Your temper was decidedly like that of a firebender; a stereotype no less, but an accurate one in your case. "Sweetie." Your mother stepped forward, placing her hand on your shoulder. "I know you miss your dad. I know he's always away out there." She turned to address the same scene you took in every day, wanting more than anything else to become more than just a passive observer. The wind blew her hair back away from her face as her eyes seemed to dance in the steadily brightening starlight. The moon peeked through low-hanging indigo clouds and you both could hear the sound of distant waves crashing against the high cliffs surrounding your own little corner of the world, the hamlet in the heart of the grand nation you called home. "The sea is still no place for you."

"Yes, mother." Her soft smile fell. You only ever called her mother when you were upset. "I know I'm not going to be like him, like father. You've made that perfectly clear."

"I didn't say ever." You perked up, somewhat surprised at her response. "But," you did your best to remain upbeat as she elaborated. "I see you, what you're interested in, and I don't want you to get hurt. You look at the night sky, the ocean, any form of water, even at ice and snow like you're a waterbender!" She reached out and ruffled your hair. You smoothed it over the moment she released you. "Darling, you'll be a brilliant leader one day, but you have to come to terms with your own destiny. I think you idolise that mover star too much. Lesser men and women have gone insane yearning for what they can't have." She nodded in the direction of a poster you now vowed to finally get rid of once and for all.
