I sat on my bed with her journal. It wasn't opened, I was just staring at it. Debating whether or not I should continue to read it or respect Margaret's privacy. She said she hoped no one ever read it and I sat there and didn't tell her I read it and that is how I found her.
I opened it up and read the next section. She titled it 'Her life, her story.' I read about how she wanted to be an artist, but her parents didn't like the idea and tried to persuade her to be a lawyer. In fact, they told her to either be a lawyer or don't talk to them.
I'm sure she felt alone and she wanted someone there for her. A tear rolled down my cheek and I closed the book. I slid it under my mattress where I have been keeping it lately.
"Lulu! Dinner!" John called.
I dashed downstairs to the table where everyone was already sitting down eating. I sat in my seat and ate the steak that sat on it next to the rice and mashed potatoes.
"Where did you go today?" Hanna asked after she scarfed down her pile of potatoes.
"Nowhere." I said glancing over to my mom and I saw her looking at me.
"So, how is everyone adapting to the wedding in two weeks?" John asked changing the subject.
No one said anything except for Christina. "I like it. Denise is so sweet and I love her as a mom. I also like my new sisters." She smirked at me and Hanna.
"That is so thoughtful." Mom said looking at Christina.
After dinner I went back upstairs to read, but I drifted to sleep while reading it.
