Chapter 18: The Prince's Story

Adriexe woke up under a tree. And it is night time already.
In front if him are Felix and Bridgette, setting up the fire while Marinette and Adrien are looking up the trees, searching for fruits to eat for the night.
Adriexe groamed as he tried to stand up.
...
ADRIEXE: "Ugghh. Where am I?"
...
Then, he remembered everything that just happened.
Rosela, Ellen, Chezka, Kagami, and Luka are all kidnapped!
He immediately tried to get up.
...
ADRIEXE: "R-Rosela and the others... we... w-we have to... save them."
BRIDGETTE: "Ssshhh. Calm down, Your Highness! We are gonna do that soon. You just have to rest more a bit. Everything's gonna be alright."
ADRIEXE: "But how will everything be alright if you knew that the one you love is in danger?!?!"
...
It must been too loud because he caught Adrien's and Marinette's attention and so does Felix. Felix grabbed Bridgette in her arms and made her step back a bit.
Adriexe lowered his head.
...
ADRIEXE: "I-I'm so sorry."
...
The group felt pity at the Prince. They knew that feeling. Specially Marinette who once thought Adrien was lost at Christmas time.
Adrien walked towards Adriexe and sat beside him under the tree.

ADRIEN: "Prince Adriexe? I think now would be a good time to answer Felix's question earlier."
...
Adriexe knew what Adrien is talking about he sighed a big sigh and closed his eyes, remembering every detail of it. Then he opened his eyes amd told them.

ADRIEXE: "As you all know, I am the Prince of Animaria. The place where all half humans, half animals are. Like me. I am part human, part black cat. But black cats meant they bring curses, plagues, and even death. I brought that to my kingdom when I reached age 8.
The people became mad at me. Said that I should be killed immediately.
My Mother and Father tried to hide me. But soon, even the all the guards at the palace tried to kill me.
One night, I saw my parents crying at their room. They are really desperate on how to deal the problems about me.
So I decided to stop it all for them.
I left the castle."

Everyone gasped at the sad story. All of the Miraculous heroes are really staring at Adriexe, waiting for his next word.
...
MARINETTE: "Where did you go?"
ADRIEXE: "I went to Hollow Woods. It is a very scary place. It is a dark place filled with creepy sounds, creatures that could kill you, and barely enough food to live. But I survived. Hollow Woods is a very scary place that you will think it is a part of the Dark Kingdom. But it isn't. No one dares to go in the Hollow Woods. But I did at the age of 8. I decided to live there and since then, I never heard about my parents or our kingdom. But 8 years later, while searching for food at the woods, we met. I saw her looking at me. Scared, of course. But there is something about her that I never figured out for a moment. I knew she is a Princess because she was wearing a tiara at that time. But I never knew she is the Enchanted Princess. When I was 8, I heard about Enchanters chosen by the Mother Gem. But when I lived at the castle, it wasn't an Enchanted Princess but an Enchanted Prince named Cole.
So, she greeted me and I became stubborn. I turned away and told her to go. But she insisted she wanted to get to know me. Said she wants to be my friend. She followed me all the way to the mouth of the cave I lived in. But I scared her and made her run away. I was relieved that she go away at that time. When I tried to go iut and hunt for food again, a pack of Wolvies came and attacked me. Wolvies are wolves with red eyes that can transform into human. But when they do, some fur and their tails are still on them. I am strong, but they are stronger. They said they are goung ti kill me then eat me. I didn't mind becuase I knew nobody would care.
Until she came.
Glowing with fire on her red hair and wings, she blasted fireballs on every wolvies' tent. She burned the rope that the Wolvies tied on me and we ran away. When we are a few meters away from the Wolvies' camp, I thanked her for saving me. Much to my surprise, she said, "Anything to help a friend." Then, she smiled.
I was shocked because nobody called me a friend before. Not even when I am living in the castle because my parents never let anyone get near me except them and the guards who were protecting me. They are very protective.
Anyway, when she said that, I felt myself smiling as I look at her. I never smiled for years. I led her to my cave and for the first time, I let somebody in the secret part of my cave. There is something about the cave that you should do to open up a portal to the other side of the cave. And that other side is fascinating. It is still a cave. Only filled with sparkling sapphires, glowing big mushrooms in different colors and designs that you could use as a chair or table and crystal clear water that never ran out. She was amazed at how the place looked like. She asked permission to me if she could look around. I agreed and she started looking at the giant sapphires and the water. I found myself smiling as she played in the water. Then, I studied her features and everything about her outer appearance. For me, she only looks like a normal girl to me. Because all Princesses would never dare go to Hollow Woods and be friends with a creature like me. She noticed that I was looking at her, smiling. She smiled back and I looked away. She sat in the dirt in front of me and used her magic to make food. Like the ones I ate at the castle. I gobbled up at once, not remembering she was there. She just chuckled a bit and let me eat. When I was full, we just talked about some things like normal friends do. That's when I found out that she is an Enchanted Princess. But I never admitted that I am the Prince of Animaria because she would surely make me go back to my kingdom and I am sure that I will bring chaos again. When the time came for her to return to her kingdom, I became sad and felt lonely. She visited me everyday as she promised. We hang out and teach each other the things we knew. But the best one is when I teach her some fighting moves. I was able to fight when I was 7 anyway. And that skill has been sharpened since I lived at Hollow Woods. She loves it when I teach her some new moves and she is a fast learner. Until the days go by and I found myself waiting impatiently for her everyday to come in to my cave and greet me, like I am a puppy waiting for his Master.
She asked me that day what I want to learn. Out of nowhere, I blurted out that I want to learn how to dance waltz.
Yes, she taught me. She said I am also a fast learner. While we were dancing, I admitted ti myself that... I love her. But I didn't tell her. Because... who would want to be with me forever? A cursed guy! A nobody! So three days later, I told her I wanted something. Something that could make yhe curse go away. She came back the next day with a magical obsidian rock that she turned into a necklace and placed it around my neck. I told her that I had a surprise for her the next day. She was so surprised the following day when it was announced that the lost prince of Animaria came back to his kingdom. When she arrived at the celebration, she saw my Dad announcing that his son came back, and I showed up beside him. We hang out at the garden of the castle while the others having fun inside the ball. She is so beautiful that night that I never left my eyes on her. I admitted to her that I love her. Surprisingly, she admitted that she loves me back! Even when she didn't knew that I am a Prince! I asked her if I could be his prince or... boyfriend in your place. She agreed. I told my parents about it the next day at breakfast and they became shocked. They told me that an Animarian can not be in a relationship with a non-Animarian. Rosela found out about it too when she told the King and Queen of Encantacia, the Princes, and his other groupmates or friends also called the Legendary Warriors. This group is a group if the most powerful Enchanters all chosen by the Mother Gem.
So, we decided to be together in a secret. We always meet up in a beach and there, we will play with the water and sand. Or just sit or lie down in the sand and watch the moon and stars. There is where our first kiss happened. But two months later, I decided to sneak in Encantacia's castle t surprise her. I found her ouside the castle, being hugged by someone who is obviously in love winth her. I became furious and never went to the beach to see her that night. I never spoke to her or tried to see her. When she found a chance to speak to me in a meeting of all the kingdoms of Enchanted Kingdom, I told her that we should break up. She cried. I couldn't bear to see her crying so I left her. A week later, I found out from the maids that the boy that hugged Rosela is Prince Andres. The next king of Encantacia. He is also in love with her. But what I didn't know is that Rosela was slipped and Prince Andres caught her. That is when he hugged her. He also tried to kiss her and received a slap on the face from Rosela. Something a Princess, specially an Enchabted Princess, should never do. I cried at that time when I found out the truth. I figured that, I should have let her explain. I tried seeing her. But the Legendary Warriors, who found out about me hurting their friend's feelings, didn't let me. I tried to move on. But I just can't I still love her. Until now! That is why just a thought of her being in danger makes me feel like I am in danger, too."
...
Marinette, Adrien, Bridgette and Felix became quiet for a long time. They became sad at the Prince's story.
Marinette placed a hand on Adriexe's hand.
...
MARINETTE: "Don't worry. We'll help you save your Princess. And so are the others."
ADRIEXE: "She is not my Princess anymore. But thanks anyway."
...
They all became silent once more. Until Adrien passed them out the fruits he and Marinette picked while Adriexe was still unconscious.
That night, Adriexe couldn't sleep well. He had nightmares about Rosela being in danger...
And regreted that he doubted Rosela's love for him.
