ATHENA Grace was furious.

She was furious she was going back into the games. Yes, she was going back into the games. There was no way she would let Johanna face them again. She was furious Jacob might be going back. She was furious Finnick was going back.

Infuriating thoughts swirled in her head as she prepared herself for the reaping. Athena didn't cry, but when the news had been announced her strong demeanour had shattered. Almost everyone she loved would potentially go back into the arena. The victor clutched her head just thinking about it.

Athena didn't know how long she had spent curled in Johanna's embrace. The two best friends shared unspoken words, they would sacrifice their life for one another.

Jacob had only cried once, the day of Athena's reaping. After growing up together and as he managed to come out as the victor of his games, when Athena was reaped he fell apart. That moment mirrored this one.

After an extremely long amount of time, Johanna and Jacob left Athena. They believed she needed time with her family.

She was a tornado of mixed emotions; angered, broken, sad. Athena sat down on her soft bed, holding her head in her hands, the chocolate strands curling in her fingers. She had to be strong. She had to be strong for her family, her friends and herself.

Her sleek door clicked open.

Athena lifted her head to see Maria and Lily enter the room. Lily had been crying. Her eyes were red and puffy and a look of absolute despair plastered on her face. Athena looked up, a darkened look gracing her features.

The pair of siblings slowly walked to Athena's side, Lily to the left and Maria to the right. The bed sunk as they carefully sat down. Athena placed her head on Lily's shoulder, the youngest began to whimper quietly. Maria traced circles on Athena's back soothingly as if she herself tried not to fall apart.
