"He's doing what?" I asked Betty "Yeah, and the hunger strike is not all. They chained themselves to the school" she sighed "Oh my God" I said while driving faster "I barely slept last night" she sighed, gripping the large thermos in her hands "Oh my God" I said again when I pulled up to SSH. Betty jumped out of the car, rushing over to Jughead "Wow, you guys really don't play" I said, looking around "It's only Hiram who has to realize this now" Jughead said "Lila, come help" Betty said as we gave everybody a warm cup of coffee "Betty, we should go if we want to make it to first period" I said and she nodded "We'll be back after school, okay?" she said and hugged Jug "Bye" I smiled and got into the car. I tried not to, but couldn't help thinking about Sweet Pea all day long and how I didn't see him there this morning. As I was driving back with Betty after school, my palms started to sweat against the steering wheel "Lila?" Betty spoke up "Yeah?" I asked, glancing over "Jughead told me about...you and Sweet Pea. Do you want to tell me anything?" she asked and I sighed "I don't know....it's complicated" I said "I know, trust me. But that didn't stop me from being with Jughead" she said "Yeah but he wanted to be with you too" I said "And doesn't Sweet Pea want to be with you?" she asked "I honestly have no idea, one day we kiss and then we ignore each other and then flirt and back to ignoring and then...he took me joy riding twice and we talked and I felt like he's genuine....like for a little he dropped the bad guy attitude and...and then we....you know" I said and she gasped "You and Sweet Pea had....done it?" she asked "Yeah and....the next day at school he saw me talking to Reggie and I guess he was tipped off by him being a little too friendly maybe...we had a fight and haven't talked since" I sighed "Whoa....is it that bad?" she asked "Yeah we just....I mean I know I said stuff I didn't mean but I can't speak on his behalf. But him and Jug are not the same so I guess I can't rely on the fact that it worked out for the two of you" I said "Aw, I'm so sorry" she said "It's fine I just....it's so weird cause I....I like him, Betty. Like actually like him" I said "I wish I could say something to help you" she said and I sighed, parking the car "He's here" Betty said "Yeah" I said, undoing my seat belt and stepping out of the car, walking behind Betty who greeted Jughead first. I kept my eyes on the ground but couldn't resist not looking up at Sweet Pea. Our eyes met and I let out a shaky breath "We got food for anyone who'd like a burger" Betty said "I'd love some burgers" Fangs said and I helped Betty to give out the burgers and fries "Here" I said and handed Sweet Pea a Pop's bag with the food inside "Thanks uh....I think we should talk" he said, taking a few steps away from the rest of the guys, as far as they chains allowed him. His eyes softened more the closer he got to me, his tall frame hovering above me, his cold hand cupping my jaw and his slightly chapped lips crashing against mine. I closed my eyes , enjoying the short kiss, the other Serpent's cheers and whistles ruining the moment. Sweet Pea broke the kiss "I..." he whispered and I smiled, going on my tiptoes and bringing his lips down against mine again "That's my boy!" I heard Fangs yell out "Okay, get a room you two" Jughead laughed "Jug!" Betty said and I shook my head "I was a dick to you" he whispered "Me too, I never meant to hurt you" I said "You didn't, I'm the one who....I'm sorry" he sighed and I looked at him, he had heavy chains wrapped around his torso in an X "It's fine" I said, looking up at him and he nodded "You didn't have to come here...it's not a pretty sight" he said, pulling me against him "It's crazy what you're doing but I see the point" I said, looking over my shoulder "We won't let them win" he said "I know" I said, looking back at him with a smile "What?" he asked with a smirk "Nothing....aren't you cold?" I asked but he shook his head "But you must be freezing, go home" he said, looking at me and at what I was wearing "But...." I said "Listen to me princess" he said, leaning his head down and kissing my forehead "Okay" I sighed, looking down "Look at me" he said, his index finger sliding under my chin and tilting my head upwards "I'm just looking out for you" he said and I nodded.
