Tegan didn't know how Rhea convinced her to do three shots in a row. Bobbing her head to Red's closing number, This I Swear, she recalled the whirlwind of emotions her heart had to endured over the last couple of months. Her family aside, Tegan's head had been consumed with vengeance and rage. In addition to flushing her cheeks a bright pink, the alcohol was helping her accept things sip by sip.
"Sangria, my good sir!" Rhea told the bartender. She was more light weight than Tegan, although her complexion concealed it better. Warren didn't seem impressed with his girlfriend's decision to get wasted at the concert—he kept saying he was still recovering from the last time Rhea got wasted. Tegan couldn't believe what a baby the suit-wearer was being. Rhea was a grown ass woman! If she wanted to drown herself in alcohol then he should be happy to pick up the pieces. It should be his damn pleasure to take care of her.
Tegan moved to the railing and cheered loudly for Red. Seconds later, Rhea joined her with two glasses of white wine. Handing one to Tegan, she gently clanked the glassware. "You and I forever, this I swear!" the girls sang along with the crowd.
"Ask me how I know the lyrics!" Tegan yelled, over the screaming fans.
"How?" Rhea shouted.
"I was forced to wake up to it!"
Rhea began dancing. "I'm not sorry."
As the overwhelming screams continued, the girls enjoyed the rest of the concert completely intoxicated. They didn't care about anything else, not Warren's dotting personality, not the Pen Pals' disinterest in the concert, and not where their friend Sera had gone. Christian Lu was also missing but it was better not to think about that obnoxious jerk. Tegan's chest never ceases to ache at the thought of him. He was without a doubt the most annoying crush she ever had.
Once the concert concluded, the stage lights dimmed on Red. Another video montage took over the screens, showcasing photos he took with his fans just days ago. It was a sweet gesture. Rhea sneered from beside, upset that a photo of her and the international pop-star wasn't added to the slide-show. Tegan pointed out that she had her idol's phone number, which was more than his other fans would ever get.
"Let's get you home before you start singing Beyoncé covers." Warren appeared behind his girlfriend and got a hold of her arm. Rhea struggled to say that she was fine where she was and that she didn't want to go home. Warren was strict with his decision. "Life is hard, I know. You can tell me all about your first world problems when you're sober!"
Tegan laughed at the couple. "You guys are so cute it makes me want to throw up."
Rhea stuck her tongue out just as Sera was escorted through the VIP doors by Christian Lu. Tegan would have normally caused a fuss over her friend interacting with the jerk, but she was in no mood to be dramatic. An arm linked with Tegan suddenly, "Maybe we should get you a seat," the voice said.
Tegan waved off the comment. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Stop all your fussing, Pen-Pal."
Lance raised his brow. "That's Pen-Pals. Plural."
"I don't see multiple of you," Tegan slurred and then remembered someone important. "Where did Marie go? Oh, my, god. Did we lose her? Does anyone know where Marie Lu went? Guys, we are down a woman!"
"Marie went to meet up with her friends," Christian supplied, taking Tegan's hand.
Lance looked happy to give her up, the disrespectful turd. Whatever. He was not even Tegan's type. None of the Pen-Pals were her cup of tea. The only person she was in the mood to be held by was Christian Lu. Tegan giggled as Sera walked over, looking rather angry about the situation. "What the hell happened?" her friend asked. "I leave for a bit and you guys get plastered?"
