Sera sat on the sectional sofa and crossed her arms. The Pen Pals were about to give her an exclusive look at the new song Warren wrote. The guitar intro was soft and sweet, it gave her unavoidable butterflies. "You seem happy beside me," Lance sang. "You seem calm and sweet. I almost forget how you've hurt me, how I've hurt you baby."
After spending so much time with the boys, Sera finally understood why Rhea was obsessed with them. The Pen Pals were going to be huge stars, it would be easy with their sound and authenticity. At first, it was hard for Sera to adjust to Lance's obnoxious personality, but after awhile, she learned he was that way for a reason. There was immense pressure on Lance as the lead singer and his voice was the sole reason their Instagram following had increased 80% in the last three months. That kind of responsibility would make anyone sensitive to criticism and Sera had dished her fair share of it when they first met.
"I yell and you yell, but the world cannot hear us," Lance was staring at Sera as he sang. Jon and Murray were too busy focusing on their own instruments to pick up on the vibes their band-mate was giving. "I lash out, you tune out. We are controlled by our fears."
Sera was embarrassed to report that she had been enjoying occasional flirting sessions with her client. It wasn't her fault though. After yelling at Lance to stop pestering her about doing a cover with him, she learned about his talents and dedication. It wasn't long until she started admiring him...from afar. Her new job with Christian was a game changer, and although she didn't want to jeopardize it, once in awhile, she enjoyed the eye candy.
"Is this what we wanted when we fell in love?" Lance continued smiling at her. Yes, boy! Sera wanted to shout back, sing it! "Saying things to purposely hurt one another?"
Jon and Murray joined him for the chorus. "Where are we now--ah-ah-ow. I say oh-oh-oh, oh. Where do we go--oh-oh-oh...from here?"
Lance took control. "Don't sit there and smile my-aye way, it won't change a single thing."
"We have no-oh-oh-oh where to go," Jon and Murray finished.
The elevator opened and Misha strutted into the Penthouse. It took Sera a lot of energy to smile at the supermodel. Rhea and Tegan warned her beforehand about the Diva who had been drooling over Christian Lu, but she never thought the girl would intervene with his work life so much. Lance and the boys weren't fond of her either, they didn't like seeing her follow their manager around. They held a bigger grudge when they learned Red Jensen had feelings for the supermodel. Misha caused a lot of problems in and out of the penthouse. Sera tactfully used that to her advantage and begged Red to let the Pen Pals practice out of his place until he returned from the States.
"I know in my heart that we're meant to be,"Lance concluded the song. "So hold out your hand out, only for me."
Jon and Murray joined in. "Where are we now--ah-ah-ow. I say oh-oh-oh, oh. Where do we go--oh-oh-oh...from here?"
"Hi Sera!" Misha took a seat next to her on the sectional couch.
"How's it going?" Sera asked, maintaining professionalism. The girl was decked out in brand name clothes, from a Kate Spade halter dress to Jimmy Choos heels and Gucci accessories. Although Misha's style was on point, her personality needed some major adjustments. Especially after all the shade she had been throwing at Sera's friends. Not to mention the actual champagne she spilled on Tegan at Nanalee Winter's Charity Gala. Sera cursed her bad luck. She missed her chance with Hugh Jackman! Wolverine, for crying out loud! It would sting less if her friends stopped showing off the photo they took with him. Rhea's black eye made Sera feel worse about missing the event.
