Shadow stared at her, she didn't bother to make eye contact.

"If you want to go, then fine. If I'm gone though, just forget about me." Shadow said.

"What? What are you talking about?" Amy asked.

"I put a force field around this house. If you go out of it, I shut down. No big deal right? You hate me anyways. Honestly I hate keeping you here like this. I made the wrong choice. So in return I will let you leave. My life for your freedom, seems fair." Shadow said.

"Stop Shadow." Amy said.

"No, it was my mistake. I need a punishment." Shadow said.

"Death is never an acceptable punishment! Everyone has a reason to live, you know that. I will not let you give your life for my freedom, as much as I hate you. Instead of death, it will be guilt, as I stay here while you know that I am suffering and my heart is hurting! Because of you I won't see Sonic for four years! You don't understand how much I love him! We were supposed to go on a date the day you took me away! That could have been that thing that sparked something! You took away my one chance! I already miss him so much!"

"Four years is nothing! Just imagine, you were created for one job, to protect Sonic! But this damn jerk came to kill you and Sonic gave his life for yours! He died for you, and it's your fault because if you didn't exist none of it would have happened in the first place! You now cannot die and see them in the afterlife! You already live with so much guilt on your shoulders and there is no way that you can ever make it up to her because she's dead! Because of this you're scared to make friends because you might lose them! You have had this mindset for so long that now no one would ever want to be my friend! And it's all my fault!" Shadow yelled.

There was a long silence.

"Shadow, this is about Maria isn't it?" Amy asked.

Shadow turned away from her. She looked at him closely, it looked like he was about to cry, but was keeping a straight face at the same time.

"No Shadow, it's alright. No need to be ashamed. Now I know... I know why you're like this and now I know how to help you." Amy said putting her hand on his shoulder.

"Y-You... forgive me?" Shadow asked looking at her.

"Not entirely, but I'm willing to give you another chance." Amy said.

"Thanks Amy. I really appreciate it." Shadow said. "You're welcome."

"By the way, I have things that you might like." Shadow said.

He got up and reached under her bed.
