"You guys found anything?" Jonah asked happily.
"I found this black scarf."
"I found these drumsticks."
"I found these black jeans."
"And you, Alexa?"
"I found this band tee, these black heel boots and the same scarf Tamara found," I replied.
I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that this was kind of scary. Especially the looks we got from the vampire looking people in this store.
"I don't feel comfortable here," Tamara spoke up.
"I get that a lot", Jonah laughed.
He actually had more items in his hands that all of us combined. Clearly, this is the only place he ever shops.
We paid for our items and left, feeling as if we had just walked out of hell.
"Oh shoot! We're late for practise!" Max said to Jordon.
"Gotta bounce guys, see y'all laterz," Jordon said as he and Max darted away.
"Good riddance," I commented after Max had gone.
"Well, I also have to go. I have a date with my boyfriend in a few hours," Tamara said as she walked away.
This is odd.
"They're up to something," I said as I turned to Jonah.
"I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, can I leave too?" He asked.
"And go where?"
"Home, so I can listen to music."
"No, stay. I don't want to go back to my dorm room only to think about my miserable life," I said.
"Well there's litteraly nothing left to do now is there?" He asked, not accepting defeat.
"We could...study at the library?" I lamely suggested.
"Isn't that your boyfriend over there?" Jonah enquired, politely turning down my suggestion.
I turned to the direction Jonah was pointing at. There he was, the boy I first fell in love with.
Okay, maybe I'm lying. I've fallen in love many times before, but hey, I loved him too.
He was accompanied by a beautiful girl. He had his arm around her tiny waist.
"Wait, I know who she is..." I replied as painful memories returned.
She was the girl back in high school who everyone would try to impress. Surprise Surpise, I was part of the popular squad, so she would always backstab me. Once I nearly lost my popularity because she poured viniger into my water bottle, and spread a rumour saying that I smelled off viniger that day to cover up the smell of a rotten fish I apparently ate because my parents went bankrupt.
After high school, everyone went their separate ways to pursue their different dreams. She, respectively, dropped out and became a model.
Now there she was, being all giggly with my boyfriend. Okay, ex. But, he'll be mine soon enough.
"Look at her, being all pretty and girly and-" I stopped and mocked an annoying girly giggle.
"Hey babe, still single? Check out my new wifey," Anthony approached with Becka.
I eyed her with envy. Although, I hated her with a passion, i could still admit that she had a body to die for.
She was thin, but not really thin. The correct phrase is, she was small and fit. However, she still had the curves of a thick girl.
She giggled as played with her long brunette, SHINY, hair.
I couldn't stand the sight of them, standing together, looking perfect.
"Get the hell away from me," I whispered as my tears threatened to pour out.
"Are you going to cry? You were so cool back in high school? What happened now?" Becka commented.
I grabbed her by the hair and pushed her to the ground as she screamed. Anthony pulled me by the hair from behind and wrapped his arms around my neck, squeezing and smirking.
"Touch her again, I'll kill you," He said as he pushed me to the ground and helped his girlfriend up.
Both of them walked happily away as I stood up and ignored the stares from the bystanders.
"Well, he's a jerk," Jonah commented.
"Where were you through all that!?" I asked with rage rising with every word I spat.
"Oh nothing, cute emo girl walked by and I got distracted. I got her number though," he replied with an adorable smile.
I sighed as tears spilled out my eyes. All the heartache and pain returning to the pit of my chest.
"Do you want to be alone?" He asked awkwardly.
"I want to go home to my parents. But it's too bad they disowned me!" I screamed, frustrated that I was having a breakdown in public.
Jonah didn't utter a single word, instead he walked towards me and hugged me. I held him tight, never wanting to let go and facing this world ever again. Too bad, it only last for a few seconds.
"Listen, you need to move on," Jonah said.
"How?" I asked in a choking voice as I attempted to dry my tears.
"She said love is a strong word, said love is a strong word. But if we don't have no love then how we s'posed to move on, word?" He sang softly from the song Fallen by Jaden Smith.
"Find someone else?"
"Seemed easy enough for him. Try it."
"And how exactly am I going to do that?"
"I don't know, I'm not wise when it comes to dating advise, rather ask Tamara," He replied.
He started walking and I followed after him.
"Life is hard, honestly," I commented.
"Survival of the fittest," he replied.
And that had me thinking really hard. Hmmm. Survival of the fittest? And if you're not fit? Are you supposed to just...get fit? Maybe I should hit the gym this weekend.
I wanted to ask Jonah more questions, since he seems to have to all figured out, but I didn't feel like talking anymore. As we were walking through the parking lot, I wanted to be at home. I wanted to be in my room at home, listening to Nicki Minaj, painting my nails pink while texting my popular friends about the short denim skirt I would be wearing.
"You should listen to Twenty One Pilots. That's all I can say to you," Jonah suggested.
No thanks. Xxxtentacion will do.
