Thrust

A space craft requires a certain minimum amount of thrust in order to attain the required escape velocity that will propell it beyond the earths atmosphere, and away from the gravitational influence of the earth. Anything below that minimum thrust, the space craft will be drawn back to the earth by gravity.
So, its the gravity that motivates the thrust. Without gravity, the spacecraft would leave the earth at any speed and with as little a force as possible.
OK, let's see, the space craft doesn't really need the gravity to ascend, but it probably needs a little bit of it to orbit around the earth, and to return to the earth, but that's not really significant to our lesson today.

God creates a spiritual man, in his image and likeness. The man is spirit, but has a soul (that part of him that thinks, reasons, feels and makes decisions, etc). Then God gives him a physical body to enable him to function on a physical earth.

The soul is at the centre. The spirit is the one who listens to and communicates with God.
The flesh is what links the man to this world.

The flesh is the portal through which the ruler of this world the devil communicates to and influences the soul. The spirit is the portal through which God communicates to and influences the soul.

Once a person gets born again in Christ Jesus, he becomes spiritually conscious. Because the spirit man within (The portal to the heavenly kingdom) comes to life. From that moment on, there is a tag of war between the spirit man, who is now linked to God and the flesh which is linked to the devil. They are both fighting for the control of the soul and the soul has to choose which of the two to follow.

Romans 8:3-8
What the law could not do because the human nature was weak, God did. He condemned sin in human nature by sending His own Son, who came with a nature like sinful human nature, to do away with sin. God did this so that the righteous demands of the law might be fully satisfied in us who live according to the Spirit and not according to human nature. Those who live as their human nature tells them to have their minds controled by what their human nature wants. Those who live as the Spirit tells them to, have their minds controlled by what the Spirit wants. To be controlled by human nature results in death. To be controlled the Spirit results in life and peace. And so people become enemies of God when they are controlled by their human nature, for they do not obey God's law, and in fact they cannot obey it. Those who obey their human nature cannot please God.

The soul now knows the truth, and so aspires to attain its divine status by following the dictates of the spirit. The flesh does not give up without a fight.

Two kingdoms are at war here; either for the salvation of the soul or for its doom. The soul needs to be energized enough In order to resist the demands of the flesh and only live according to the dictates of the spirit in order to grow to its divine status.

In case the  spiritual thrust is not enough, the flesh will win over the Spirit, and the soul will be doomed to eternal destruction. Its the flesh with its influences and demands that oppose the soul from growing spirit ward in order to find eternal life.

Man was destined to live in the presence of God. But sin brought the separation that is between man and God presently. Jesus Christ had to be sacrificed to restore that relationship. Its the Spirit of Christ who was in Jesus that is present in the world today  labouring to restore the souls of men back to their initial divine status - in the image and likeness of God.
The Spirit of Christ is He who links a born again Christian to the kingdom of their rightful father and creator, God.

Restoration of the human soul cannot begin unless the Spirit of God has come to dwell in the individual and the spiritual portal to heaven (the spirit of the individual) is brought to life. The Spirit of Christ only comes into a person when the individual accepts Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior.

* Revelation 3:20-22
Listen!
I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with them, and they will eat with me. To those who win the victory, I will give the right to sit beside me on my throne, just as I have been victorious and sit beside my Father on His throne. If you have ears, then listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.

It sounds to me like your Father is summoning you to your rightful heritage. Do not die separated from Him. He has already made all the sacrifices needed for your restoration, and He is ever present at your side knocking at the door of your heart. Please accept Him and you will never have a reason to regret. He loves you and is waiting.
