LET'S JUST SAY KARA WASN'T HAVING THE BEST OF DAYS SO FAR. She only wanted to go home and swaddle in blanket, listening to her favorite singer Shawn Mendes on repeat. But however, she was stuck in this prison with her least favorite class coming up next. It was Chemistry class, Kara absolutely despised the subject and the teacher who teaches it as well. Her feet dragged along the school's tiles as she made her way to the lab. Once she enters the room, all eyes land on her once again. She mumbled incoherent words before she sat down at an empty table. She pulled out her journal and started to write. Writing unlocked an imagination for her that reality couldn't grasp. "Someone sitting here?" An all too familiar voice interrupted with a question. She slowly flickered her eyes to the sound of the voice.
It was Scott Reed.
Kara's eyes trailed around the classroom, hoping there was some empty seat elsewhere but her hopes were soon dashed. "No. You can if you would like." Kara replied, trying to sound friendly. Kara's kept her eyes on Scott, he only smiled all quirky like and sat on the stool next to her. Kara flickered her eyes, looking him and up and down before she continued her writing.
"Welcome to Chemistry Class everyone, I am your teacher Mr. Jarvis." He greeted everyone with a warming smile. "I will be your teacher for the whole entire year."
Everybody groaned in unison, including Kara. Scott would occasionally look at her, smiling to himself. She was really pretty, he thought. He shook his head, clearing his thoughts. "And the person your sitting next to you will be your lab partner for the entire year as well." Everybody then cheered in unison except for Kara. She sighed softly while she fiddled with her pencil. Everybody had a best friend that they could work with, except for her. Plus this sounded like one of those cliche teen romance books where the main character always gets paired up with the hot jock. She only shrugged, she thought of the pros. It could be worst.
"Scott." She called. Scott met with Kara's chocolate orbs, his heart fluttering with hope. "Here are my rules, I'll tell you what to do. Don't touch anything and don't kill me."
"You got it." He answers with a cheeky grin. Kara shook her head and softly smiled genuinely at the boy's silliness. Scott noticed the smile that was planted on her lips. He turned so she couldn't see him and he pumped his fists. He thought: Oh my god. I actually made Kara Baker smile! Yes! He then shook his head and regained his chillness as he would like to call it.
