Emily felt her phone ringing. It wasn't a number she recognized. It wasn't the burner either. It was her private phone no one knew about. She turned down an alley and answered it. There was a long bit of silence before she heard his voice.

"They found the meet. We need to expedite our plan. Take target four now. I'm texting you his location."

She checked the address and saw it was the justice building

"You expect me to walk out of here alive?" She asked.

"That's where he's headed. I need you to take him out now. We're running out of time."

"This is it. Last one, and then I'm free and you leave my brother alone."

There was a sigh and then a reluctant yes. Emily hung up and put her phone back into her pocket. Time to come up with a backup plan. She'd snuck into the precinct before by borrowing a showering officer's uniform. Then she threw on a coat and zipped it up to cover up the uniform.

So once she activate the bomb, she took off the hoodie and waltz right out. They never even took a second glance. She even helped rescue a few officers.

This was going to be a bit trickier though. They have her face. And they'll be checking every one who goes into the precinct after the bombing. Maybe that's exactly how she'd do it though.

One. Swift. Move.

"Oh don't let it boost your ego," Maddox moaned.

Reaves was way too excited that she had read the book. She couldn't believe she'd let that slip.

"You read it though. All the way to the end. Not the beginning. You read it all. You liked it," Reaves told her.

If we were not trapped in this car I would kick you.

Maddox turned down the street that lead to the precinct.

"Come on. Admit it. You liked it," Reaves continued.

Maddox sighed and then stopped at the stoplight.

"I read it, strictly, for fear of what you wrote," Maddox said.

"And?"

"They kiss!"

"It was needed."

"We didn't kiss. How was it needed."

"Well, our story didn't end happily ever after. Our fictional counterparts might as well."

Maddox scoffed before accelerating, hard. Reaves' head smacked into the headrest and he frowned at her.

"Did you read the dedication?" He asked her.

"What? No. I never read those," Maddox replied.

"You should."

The rest of the car ride was in silence. Once they got to the precinct, Drake and Cooke were waiting. Somehow in the arguing they had gotten ahead of them. They all entered the precinct and saw the damage up close.

The fire had destroyed a good portion of the ground floor and first floor. The rest was pretty well untouched. Maddox could feel the fire and struggling for breaths under the debris. She shivered and then marched to the stairs.

They still hadn't reactivated the elevators yet. Which meant they'd be using the stairs until the damage could be repaired. She pushed the door open and saw Mull standing in the center of the bullpen. Ian was sitting in a chair looking uncomfortable.
