Everyone had clapped when they paraded Whelan into the precinct. Agent Mull had to leave but he'd left Doyle a nice little speech about how appreciative the FBI was that the NYPD caught the Executioner. Probably because he'd have choked on the words had he said it to Maddox. At least, that's what Reaves thought.
Now all that was left was getting Whelan to roll on her employer and finding out if it really was Patrick Murphy who hired her. In case it was someone else they'd need to know who. Or just get her to confess on Patrick.
Reaves was soaking up all the attention as he gloriously told his heroic story of how he uncuffed himself and then ran all the way to the fifth floor to save Maddox. (What he neglected to mention was when he had to stop and ask what floor McNaughton's office was on.)
Drake was suspicious of the story but Cooke was soaking up every word. Reaves could tell Maddox had quit listening because she was staring at the interrogation room. Once Reaves was done explaining the story Maddox cleared her throat.
"Guess it's time to take a crack at Whelan. We've let her stew long enough haven't we?" Maddox said before standing up. "You coming?"
Reaves looked at her and smirked. He followed to the interrogation room and she opened the door. Whelan sat completely still and stared at the opposing wall without even batting an eye as they entered.
Maddox and Reaves sat down across from her and Maddox folded her arms. She leaned back in the chair and they watched Whelan as she stared without looking at either of them.
"Noah said to relate a message to you. I'm afraid I won't because I'm uncomfortable using some of the language he used," Maddox said breaking the silence.
Reaves looked at Whelan and couldn't believe he was attracted to her. A psychotic killer, and he wanted to go on a date with her. How much more twisted can you get?
"Basically he said he hates you, and hopes to never ever see you again. And that you . . . die," Reaves explained. "To sum up anyway."
She seemed unfazed. Staring at the wall like no one else was even in there. Occasionally she'd blink. But even those seemed like they were timed at precise moments to ensure she looked at calm as possible.
Maddox cleared her throat, "Patrick Murphy. Is that who hired you?"
Whelan didn't flinch.
"You roll on your employer in the Clovers, maybe even the ADA you tried to murder will be interested in some kind of deal possibly. Either way, you've just doomed yourself making one rookie mistake," Maddox went on to elaborate.
Reaves shook his head as Whelan didn't respond again. It was a waste of time to time. She wasn't gonna roll on her employer. Nothing was going to make her. Unless.
Reaves leaned over and whispered into Maddox's ear. She nodded and then left the room. Reaves waited until it was dead silent.
"I liked you. Before you turned out to be this murderous psychopath," Reaves said. "I understand what you meant when you said your brother was less planned. Let me guess, they threatened him. Am I close? Just say Ding-Ding if I am."
"Ding," She said before adding, "Dong."
Reaves shrugged, "Fair enough."
He leaned back and propped his feet on the table.
"Is Murphy your employer?" Reaves asked.
"Is Ryan the reason you were being a hesitant?" Whelan replied.
Reaves looked up and was confused.
"Hesitant with what?"
"I asked you out. You said maybe after the trial. But that was a cop out. You didn't wanna go out with me. Your holding out hope for her. And no one else compares-"
The door flew open and Maddox stood looking slightly pale.
"Looks like your employer got ahold of Noah. He's dead," Maddox said.
Reaves turned and looked at Emily who was actually showing emotion.
"How?" She asked.
Maddox looked at Reaves who gave a slight nod, "Don't have details yet. Just know he's dead. You lost. And now your employer is gonna be in the wind."
Reaves dropped his feet from the table and leaned forward. She was almost there.
"Come on Reaves, we should go down to the morgue. See what Tommy has," Maddox said.
Reaves nodded and stood up and followed Maddox out.
Time for the fun to start.

"Your being taken to the closest precinct with holding cells. Temporary thing ya know, since you blew the others up," Drake said as he uncuffed Whelan from the table.
He went to recuff her hands and then he felt the hand slam into his throat. She kneed his stomach and slammed his head onto the table. In one move, she disarmed the officer and stole his firearm. She shot him and then ran out the door.
Maddox and Reaves shoved the door of the observation room open and Maddox ducked as Whelan fired off two rounds at her.
"I'm getting really tired of her shooting at us," Reaves said.
Maddox peeked and fired a shot at her as she snuck off to the stairs. Cooke walked out of the elevator and Whelan shot her twice.
"No!" Drake yelled from the interrogation room.
There was a brief pause and then Whelan took off down the stairs. Maddox ran after her and saw her open the door heading to the parking garage. Maddox followed her out, only to realize it was an ambush. Emily came out from behind a pillar and pointed the gun right at her.
"Goodbye Detective," Emily said.
"Wait, you do this. Noah's killer gets away free," Maddox said.
"Oh he won't be getting away."
Maddox heard the gunshot and then she collapsed to the ground. She felt her chest and saw blood. Whelan ran out of sight and Maddox heard the door behind her open.
"Maddox?!" Reaves exclaimed before falling at her side. He fumbled his hands trying to apply pressure to the wound. "No no no no no. You can't die."
