I woke up to blinding sunlight hitting my eyes, I guess I had forgotten to draw my curtains before I went to bed. I rubbed my eyes tiredly before groggily sitting up. I checked my phone to see what time it was. 2 PM?! I stayed up too late texting Mark last night. I massaged my temples as I realized how royally screwed I was, Hoseok's party will start in 3 hours, and I still haven't bought my dress or shoes. Ugh.
I looked over my notifications and saw some messages from Mark from around 9 this morning.
Mark: good morning!
Mark: man, you must still be sleeping huh?
Mark: text me when you're up, I'm bored
I grinned while replying.
Me: hey
Mark replied no less than a minute later.
Mark: mina! you're up, did you sleep okay?
Me: I slept great, thanks. actually, a little too great, I woke up like 5 minutes ago and I still need to find a dress for tonight.
Mark: aw man, well I'm sure whatever you end up wearing you'll look amazing
I stared at his message as my heart skipped a beat, a bright smile breaking onto my face yet again.
Me: thank you, mark :) that means a lot
Me: what are you up to today?
Mark: no problem! just telling it how it is
Mark: today? well I've been working since this morning, later I have a thing with some people
I laughed a little at his response. Me: a thing with some people? sounds interesting haha
Mark: haha yeah, it's just a get together with some friends of a friend and some other people. no big deal
Me: well I hope you have fun, I really have to go and figure my shit out
Mark: thanks mina, you too! tell your cousin happy birthday for me, I'll talk to you later
I say 'bye' before shutting my phone off. I decide to finally get my lazy self out of my bed and eat some breakfast. I wash my face, put on some real people clothes, tame the mop on my head, and head out of my room to what should be an empty house. My siblings should be at school and my parents should be working down in the restaurant. I'm surprised at what greets me.
Seated on our living room couch is my older cousin, Hoseok's sister, beaming with a bag and box next to her. I break out into a run to greet her while exclaiming, "Jiwoo unnie!"
She smiles as she stands to meet me. We give each other a tight, excited hug as we rock back and forth. "Mina! I missed you!"
The grin doesn't leave me face as we both take a seat on the couch. "I missed you too! Have you been waiting long? I just woke up, I'm sorry."
She shakes her head. "No, don't worry, I haven't been here long. I just came to drop something off and help you out a little. If you're still the same Mina I remember, then I'm guessing you forgot to prepare for tonight. Am I wrong?"
I sheepishly smile while shaking my head. "You are not." She laughs and grabs the box and bag from beside her.
"Come back after you put this on. Go." She orders while shooing me off.
I shut the door to my room behind me and sit on my bed I open up the box first and scrunch my face a bit. In it is a pair of heels, a few inches but not really my style. I put them aside as I open the bag, revealing a simple yet stylish dress. The silky material felt like water on my fingers and I slipped it on, it fit perfectly. Bless Jiwoo's soul.
