Eleanor Price was 19 when she just moved out on her own to a small town in the middle of the Washington Forrest from her home town in California. It was a big move for someone fresh out of high school not only a year ago, but she had an job offer at a very well know publishing company. The town was filled with rumors of werewolf like creatures. Eleanor was fascinated by these stories but never gave them much thought. Until one fourth of July night.
...................
It was Fourth of July and everyone was lighting off there fireworks. I was in my small one bedroom house watching the action from my living room window as I read another great pice of literature. I was longing for my family back in California missing the hot summer nights. My thoughts were beginning to get quite pitiful so I closed my book, went into my room, slipped my shoes and jacket on and started walking around the neighborhood.
Niles was a very small town in the middle of the Washington Forrest at least a half hour from the closest city with a hospital or a Target. I moved here after getting a job offer at Hamton Publishing, a well known polishing company. I was only 19 and lived completely on my own in a different state from my family. I always wanted to be a writer so when I started high school I started taking literature classes at the junior college. When I graduated I applied at every publishing company I could find so I could see what they where looking for in an author. I applied at Hamton Publishing not thinking they were going to hire me, but they did. I was only an assistant but I was still learning the trade, and as a bonus I got lots of free books.
As you can tell I'm quite the book nerd, my friends call me a book snob. I don't know where I my love for literature came from not my mom she hated to read. My dad use to read to me when I was younger and as a hobby but never with as much passion as me. My parents told me I first started reading when I was two. Which I don't doubt because I never remember reading Dr. Sues or books like Goodnight Moon. My dad would read me the Harry Potter series when I was a child to lull me to bed.
Now I wasn't completely anti social I had long pale blonde hair almost white, blue eyes, a height of about 5 foot so I was short. I wasn't skinny but not large. I had curves where they counted. My best friend Stella was on the track team and she made me join her. I hated it but it was fun to hangout with my friend and I wasn't that bad, well I wasn't good either. Stella was always number one on the team of about fifteen and I was a good solid ten. So athletic weren't my thing actually my C in PE was the only reason I wasn't valedictorian. Now you're probably wondering how you get a C in PE if over half of your grade was for just showing up. Well in my mind being on the track team was all the exercise I needed so I would skip the class to go hang out with my other friends that where in study hall and work on my studies at the junior college.
With my good group of friends and endless activities I was rarely bored. Then I moved here. Ive been here for a month and other then my coworkers and neighbors that I say hi to, I have no friends. I try to keep busy but when that doesn't work I call my friends back home, but that only makes me more sad because they talk about how much fun they're having and all I can tell them is about he latest book I read, or the werewolf rumors that are going around here. Now these stories of wolf like creatures fascinate me greatly but I think that mostly has to do with the many great werewolf books I've read and Twilight. But when I here the wolf's romantic howls at night something inside me makes me want to believe it's a lonely soul searching for their missing half.
Niles was typically quiet except for tonight . I walked down the streets observing the fireworks. It was a sad lonely way to spend your fourth of July but it was better then staying inside and reading. I remember past fourth of july's my family would always go to the local college and watch the fireworks show then go home and light off a few of our own. Last year my friends and I spent the holiday camping at the lake. It was beautiful to watch the fireworks go off over the water and to swim all night log. Couldn't do that in Washington, I thought as I pulled my jacket tighter around me. I turned the corner on to a street that only had one family outside at the very end. They seemed to have some cool fireworks so I made my way down there.
The sidewalks in this town were ancient the had major cracks in them that with one wrong step could trip even the most graceful of a person. I watched me feet as I stumbled down the way listening to the fireworks. I heard some rustling in the trees to my right. I didnt pay itany mind knowing deer where plentiful around here. I just kept making my way to the end of the street when some one grabbed me.
Electricity shot threw my body as a began to scream. A hand quickly made its way to my mouth before any sound could come out. I thrashed against my captures body as he carried me into the dense forrest.
"Eleanor, calm down," a low husky voice breathed into my ear.
He knew my name. How. I thrashed harder but his grip only got tighter. I tried screaming but it only came out as muffled streaks. I was majorly panicking trying with all my might to break free but I couldn't. I saw headlights in the distant and took my chance with one violent thrash and a bite to the hand he let go and I took of towards the car screaming for help. Two large men lead on the outside of the jeep and looked shocked to see me. The man cot up to me and imprisoned me again in his large arms. I scream hoping the other men would help me but instead they just got into the jeep. I was shocked until my capture threw me into the back seat with him. I crept reaching for the door but he finally grabbed something and tide my hands up. I kept screaming like crazy trying to get free.
"Will you shut her up! I can't drive like this," the driver asked earning him an inhuman growl from the man who captured me.
"Eleanor, GO TO SLEEP," he commanded into my ear.
Hell no! I thought but just as he demanded it I started to fall asleep. How did he do that? I tried to fight it but it was no use before I knew it. Everything went black.
"..................."...............".............................................................................
