I wake up in Ethan's bed, my head throbbing and my eyes puffy. I throw the covers off and head down stairs to see Ethan asleep on the couch.
"Hey," I shake his shoulders, "thanks for last night."
"No need to get all sappy on me," He sits up, "We're family."
"And family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten," I smirk.
Ethan chucks a pillow at me, "You nerd."
"I'm sorry was that meant to be an insult?" I walk to the fridge and get some orange juice. I hear my phone alert go off and my heart plummets remembering last night.
"Got a hot date tonight ;)"-Chris
"Anyone we know?"-Macy replies back
"Probs not but he has stunning green eyes and is a total babe." -Chris
"It is too early for you guys to be gawking over guys." -Emma
"Never such a thing. Wish me luck."-Chris
"Good luck boo." -Macy
"Be careful."-Emma
I turn off my phone as Ethan sits next to me on the island.
"You wanna talk about why you were screaming in your sleep last night?" Ethan looks at me.
"Just a nightmare, I can't really remember much of it now," I shrug. I remember exactly happened. Yes, I had a nightmare. But before that I just wanted to escape this hell that I had been forced into. Why was this happening to me? What did this person want? I know that I said that I didn't really care about this person but I still have a lot of unanswered questions. I just wanted to know why they chose me of all people.
"Are you sure you don't have anything you want to say?" Ethan added, taking my shoulders in his hands.
"Yes I'll be fine. You don't have to worry. It doesn't matter anymore," I attested, "Now, I have to see how my dorky friends are doing."
"But you haven't eaten breakfast."
"Pfft, who needs breakfast?" I laugh, sitting back down.

I open my laptop and make sure that the camera was not on. I sigh in relief when I see no light. I open up YouTube once again and see that Dan and Phil have posted a new video on their gaming channel. I click on the video and begin watching. After a few minutes, Chris sends a snapchat of his and his date's feet saying: "The date is going excellent! This guy is so relatable."
I laugh and send a picture of my laptop asking for a picture of the guy.
He sends a picture back immediately of the docks by the lake just thirty minutes from his house, "He requested no pictures of his face. Must be insecure. So cute."
I frown and put my phone down. I finish the video and close my laptop terrified that if I left it open any longer I would have someone watching me.
"Chris sure is pretty boy, such a shame I have to kill him as well. ~P"
My phone rings. I panic as I see the text signed by ~P.
"What did you do with Chris?" -Emma
"Nothing yet. Better hurry. ~P"
I rush out downstairs, telling Ethan that I'd be with Macy. I call her up telling her to meet me at the docks. I send Will a couple of texts telling him where I was going and what was happening. I open up Snapchat Maps and follow Chris' phone to his destination. I try to drive as fast as I can, until I pull into a parking space by the shore. I see that Macy was already waiting for me at the docks, Chris nowhere near her.
"What have you done?!"-Emma
I text getting out of the car and running towards Macy.
"I thought your friend seemed to be getting hot, all I did was cool him down with a bit of water. ~P "
The sudden realization hits me and I jump into the lake giving Macy no explanation to this madness. Once my lungs start to sting, I go back up to the surface to catch my breath.
"Help me find Chris!" I shout at Macy. Her eyes grow wide and she jumps in with me. Tears warm my frigid face in the water. I come up gasping for air and hit the water, "Where is he!" I dive back under and see Macy tugging on somethings and I help. My fingers grip onto cold flesh. His head runs up and shows his white eyes. Macy and I pull him up the dock. My stomach drops as Macy turns him on his side, pumps him stomach, and performs CPR. Knowing that we were too late I pull Macy away from his limp body.
"He's gone," I hold back Macy who's screaming. I swallow sobs, trying to be brave for both of us. My clothing sticks to my skin as cold water drips down my body. He's gone. In a blink of an eye, gone.
"Too late. ~P"
My numb fingers fumble with the phone. In fear, hate, and most of all hopelessness, I throw my phone into the lake. The one thing I hope for is to kill the man that killed and crushed what normality I have left. Macy and I hold each other on the dock and cry, unable to speak, unable to fully think. I push back Macy's hair, "Look at me," I tell her, "Look at me, we did what we could. Okay," I sob, "We loved him, he laughed, he taught us to be us."
"We should have been faster, we-we could have done som-," her voice breaks into shutters into my arms. She begins screaming again. People start coming over and crowding us. Children start to cry, people get on their phones calling the police, and holding their hands against their mouths.
