I stand looking in the mirror. It's been nearly a year since the rollercoaster that I refer to as "don't forget your friends because they might come back and become a killer". Imagine me doing a very sarcastic thumbs up. I straighten my graduation cap and lift my gown to look at my scar. I quickly pull it back down, feeling anxiety bubbling up. My long brown hair flows over my chest, just barely reaching my ribs. I look down at the pair of scissors and lift my hair to it. I saw away at my chocolatey hair until it stands just above my shoulders.

"You almost ready?" I hear Will call from down stairs.

"Ready!" I call down and walk to him.

"Y-your hair!" he stands dumbfounded.

"Yeah, I thought it could use a change. Plus, boyfriend points for noticing."

He kisses the top of my head, "I love it when you use that word."

"What? Points?"

"Shut up."

"Make me," I smirk.

"Stop it!" Ethan comes in covering his ears.

We all laugh and pile into Ethan's jeep. When we make it to the school, I kiss Ethan on the cheek, "Thanks bro, see you at the ceremony."

"Aw, those fetuses are finally graduating," I can hear Ethan sigh from the car. Will takes my hand and we head into the building. The names begin to be called when I see my parents, looking pristine and doll-like as ever, walk in. Will is called to the stage and takes his diploma. After another 50 or so students get their certificates, my name gets called. I run up and grab it quickly and sit back down with Will.

"Dude," I turn to him, "We did it."

"Yup, now it's time to cheesily throw our hats in the air."

"Yes! I get to be a cliché," I whisper excitedly to him.

We all rise and shout our class year and toss our navy caps in the air. Will turns to me and places a kiss on my lips.

"Wait," I pout, "I don't want to grow up. That seems like a lot of work."

"I have a feeling you can handle it," Will gives me a noogie.

Will and I walk to my parents and his aunt.

"Emma Walker what in the name of heaven did you do to your hair?!"

Really, those are the first words that leave my mother's mouth.?

"Mom," Ethan takes her hands, "Just-just let her have this moment."

I hear Will's aunt squeal and push him out of the way to hug me, "You're so beautiful!" she plays with my now short hair, "Will is one lucky guy," she winks.

"Yeah, we both are."
