Chapter 27

Anna's POV

"Babe, please open your eyes. Please, wake up for me and babies!" I cry next to his hospital bed. His fingers move and his eyes open.

"Don't cry, I'm gonna be alright!" he whispers. Santi climbs his bed and presses him a kiss on the cheek. I still hold his hand with one of mine, holding Sophia with another arm. 

"Listen Anna, I love you and I love our children more than anything or anyone in this world. You are the only reason I wake up every day, only reason for all my breaths I take. My life is nothing without you!" he says and closes his eyes. That piiip machine in the room starts to piiiip and all the doctors are suddenly in his room.

"Maam, please, take the children and leave the room!" one of the nurses says and I grab Santiago and Soph and go to the waiting room.

"Anna, what's going on?" Andrea asks when I enter the waiting room. Luca, Stefano, Kimi, Andrea, Lewis, Mark, everybody is here. I just start crying and Lewis takes Sophia from me and Kimi holds Santiago's hand.

"I have no idea, everything was looking okay and then, I don't know. Piiiping and doctors and... I don't want him to die ANdrea! I can't live without him! I can't and I don't want to and I'm not ready to face this world without him by my side!"

"Anna, calm down, sit here and wait for the doctors to come. They are all amazing and will do everything they can to save his life. We still don't know what happened there in the turn before the tunnel, you know he knew the track here better than anyone, it was his favourite. He is a smart driver, Anna, we all know that! Something must have distracted him." Luca was talking to me but I wasn't listening. I saw a nurse leaving his room and a doctor behind her coming our way.

"Fernando's family? Is anybody here his family?" he asked.

"Me! I mean, I'm his girlfriend, soon to be wife, mother of his children. Please, doctor, tell me he is alright!"
