Chapter 28

Anna's POV

I look through the window of Fernando's room in Oviedo. Santiago is kicking the ball with his grandfather and Fernando's mother is feedinf Sophia.

"Are you ready? It's time!" Lorena looks through the door into the room. "Yeah, give me the hat and sunglasses please! Let's go." I put my shoes on and leave the room.

It's crowded, flights to Oviedo were booked for the past week. As I heard, one and a half million people were on the streets of Oviedo, waiting for the casket with the body of my boyfriend to arrive. 

I broke down into ters the moment I left the house. It was so weird. Walking down the streets of his hometown with his body, but without his soul. All the guys from paddock were here, Flavio with his family, Bernie, Spanish royal family, his friends, my friends, fans from allover the world. It's amazing how many people love him...loved him. Loved him.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Fernando's girlfriend would love to say some words." the preacher says and I have to go on the stage and talk. I don't think I have enough power to do that, I'm not strong enough. But I have to do it. For Fernando, for  the fans, for everybody.

"Firstly, I would like to thank everybody for coming. Fernando really was loved person in the world of motorsport. But he wasn't only a driver. He was a son, grandson, brother, boyfriend and father. I would like to share something with you. Since he met me on that January night in Jerez, he has changed a lot. From the guy who slept with the many models to a loving husband and father. Just before the race in Monaco he came to me in the garage and said: I can't do that anymore. I can't sit into the car and risk my life, when I know I have you and kids back in the garage. This wasn't his last season in F1, race is Monaco should be the last race before the retirement and he decided that few minutes before the race. Unfortunately, it really was his last. I know it's hard for all of you, fans and friend, but for us, his family, it's even harder. Fernando was very loved person and he knew how to love, that's how he will continue to live in our memory. Thank you again for coming!"  I said and I had to leave the stage before I broke down in the arms of Lewis, sitting with Kimi, Mark and my babies. 

"Anna, please, come with me, I have something for you from Fernando!" Kimi said.
