Clouded Mind part 2 #8

I'm not coming back

Hi everyone, sorry about the wait. School and homework have been making it extremely difficult to find time to write. Here's another chapter and sorry again about the wait.

Night fell once again in the Pridelands. Everything was peaceful but there were those who struggled to sleep. In the lion guard lair, Fuli cried in her sleep. Every night she dreamed about Kion.

Dream
Fuli sees Kion running off into the great unknown. She tries to follow him but a huge wave of fire stops her.

"MWAHAHAHAHA! He's never coming back Fuli." Laughs a voice, Fuli knew all too well.

Fuli tries to run away but the wave of fire boxes her in.

"HELP! SOMEBODY HELP! KION! BUNGA! BESHTE! ONO!" She cries.

"Give up cheetah. You've lost."

End of dream

While Fuli was dreaming, her lion guard mark glowed red. Bunga awoke to Fuli's whimpering and when he rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't dreaming, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. The mark on Fuli's shoulder dimly glowed red. Bunga quickly puts his paw onto his mark.

'Kion?' He asks though thought.

'Bunga? How did you know?' Kion asks.

'Nakuona'

When Bunga said that, Kion's body begins to appear. He was still at the oasis but Bunga didn't know that.

'How did you do that?' Asks Kion.

'Nakuona means see you. Rafiki taught it to us.' Bunga explains. 'Where are you Kion? When are you coming back?'

Kion hesitates. 'Bunga...I...I don't know how to tell you this but...I'm not coming back.'

Bunga's mouth drops open. 'You?...you're?...back?...never?...why?'

'I'm scared of what I may become. I don't want to hurt you or the others.'

'You already have hurt us Kion!'

'What?'

Bunga looks at Fuli and Kion does the same.

'She's dreaming.' Bunga explains.

'What of?' Kion asks.

'She won't tell us. Fuli hasn't been the same since you left. She misses you, Kion.'

Kion looks at the sleeping cheetah and feels the guilt build up in his stomach.

'I know.' He finally said. 'I wonder what she's dreaming about.'

'Probably you, Scar, herself. They are the most likely.'

They turn to Fuli once more when they hear her whimper again.

'I know you're scared of the future Kion, but if you won't come back for your friends...do it for her.' Begs Bunga.

Kion shakes his head. 'I wish I could Bunga, but...I'm doing this to protect you guys. I don't want to be the cause of you getting hurt.'

Bunga and Kion hear Fuli whimper once more but louder.

'Fuli's about to wake up. So unless you want to talk to her, I would leave.' Says Bunga a little coldly.

Kion looks at his best friend's eyes and sees them filling up with tears. Bunga sniffs and rubs his eyes making his eyes look worse.

'I'm so sorry Bunga' sniffs Kion getting teary too.

Kion gives him a hug and even though Bunga could walk through Kion, he hugs back.

'Will this be our last goodbye?' Asks Bunga.

'Maybe' Kion answers. 'Goodbye Bunga.'

'Bye Kion'

'I'm so sorry.'

Bunga's glow disappears and Kion fades away. He quickly but quietly jumps onto Beshte's back and tries to fall asleep. Bunga's ears twitch to the the sound of Fuli gasping for air.

"It's just a dream...It's just a dream...He's not coming back." She whispers to herself.
