Fuli awoke to a splash. She looks up to see Beshte flopping into the water to try and relax.

"She's awake." Says a voice.

Fuli looks over to see Kiara walking towards her.

"Kiara? W-what happened?" Asks Fuli.

Kiaras eyes fill with tears as the horrible memories from yesterday flood her mind. Fuli didn't need an answer. She replayed the event that happened the day before, before saying

"That outlanders won, didn't they?" Asks Fuli.

Kiara nods. Fuli nuzzles her friend to comfort her.

"Ahh, good. Everyone is awake." Purrs a voice.

Fuli and Kiara growl at the intruder.

"Oh Kiara, is that anyway to talk to your mother in law?" Says Zira.

"What do YOU want?" Growls Kovu seeing the spirit enter the lair.

Zira glares at him, wishing she could give him another scar.

"Scar wants to see the leader of the new lion guard and the princess. He doesn't like to wait." Zira informs.

"We're not going anywhere!" Snaps Fuli.

Zira turns to the cheetah and back slaps her in the face. Fuli falls to the ground from the blow and Kiara hurries to her side.

"Fuli! Are you okay?" She asks.

Fuli gets back up on her paws and into attack stance.

"Scar will not be pleased if I have to tell him you won't follow my orders. The master will not be as...forgiving as I am." Says Zira heartlessly.

"Fuli, let's just go and see what he wants." Whispers Kiara.

Fuli sighs in defeat and walks towards the entrance. Kovu follows behind Kiara but Zira lunges at him to block his path.

"Not you." She orders.

Kovu looks at Kiara and Fuli. Kiara gives Kovu a reassuring smile and Kovu goes back to his rock to wait for their return. Zira walks towards the entrance but Fuli growls at Zira when she walks past while Kiara stared at her threateningly.

"Oh hush now! There will be none of that when the master speaks with you." Snaps Zira.

Kiara and Fuli couldn't believe what the Pridelands had become. Bit by bit, the grass started to turn brown and crunchy, the trees were dried up and had lost their leaves, and the animal herds were nowhere in sight.

"It looks horrible." Whispers Kiara, staring at the barren wasteland.
