Hi everyone. I'm sorry but it's a bit of a short boring chapter today. Luckily, I'm on school holidays now so updates MAY be sooner than usual. We are also getting close to the end of this book and it won't be long until book 3.
I will post 2 chapters instead of 2 today because they are a little boring and short.
Hope you enjoy nonetheless.

Fuli sneaks up on the wildebeest, ready to pounce.

Everyday was almost the same and to Fuli, time was a blur. Each day she and Kiara would wake up, hunt, give the food to their friends, eat, then sleep. Hunting for the pride and their friends was a tough job and because of it, Fuli may go on for days without food or rest. Kiara had noticed and begged her to take it easy but Fuli refused. This was Fuli's way of punishing herself for failing the Pridelands.

"Take it easy and be careful". Kiara's words echo in Fuli's mind.

Fuli shakes her head and focuses on the target once more. She takes a deep breath and scratches the dirt.

3...2...1

Fuli charges at the wildebeest and leads it towards Kiara. When she was close enough to Kiara, Fuli pounces onto the wildebeest and sinks her claws into its skin. The wildebeest runs in circles trying to make the cheetah lose her balance. It jumps around, trying its hardest to stay alive. Fuli loses her footing so only her front paws held onto the wildebeest.

"RRROOOAAARRR!!!"

The wildebeest makes a sharp turn to avoid the young lioness, making Fuli fall off the wildebeest. She lands on her paws but they scrape the gravel and graze her paws, before she tumbles over before finally coming to a halt.

Kiara had jumped onto the wildebeest, expecting Fuli to catch up once more but when she saw her friends lying on the ground, Kiara gives up the chase and hurries towards Fuli.

"Fuli! Are you ok? Please talk to me!" Begs Kiara, panicking.

"You gave up the chase?" Groans Fuli.

"I had to." Snaps Kiara. "Your wellbeing is more important than hunting."

Fuli sits up. "Well, let's get back to the hunt."

Kiara begins to walk but stops when she hears Fuli whimper in pain. The lioness sees Fuli examining her paws. Fuli's paws were covered in blood from the fall.

"Fuli! You're hurt!" Says Kiara.

"I-it's just a scratch." Replies Fuli, shrugging.

"Oh no! Don't give me that look. I'm taking you to Rafiki even if I have to drag you there. Let's go."

Fuli hates it when she acts all 'big sister' to her. Fuli didn't want to start an argument with Kiara so she obeys.

"Fine."

Kiara smirks at Fuli in victory.

"Don't give me that look." Fuli snaps.

They walk to Rafiki's tree. The journey took a little longer because all four of Fuli's paws were grazed.

"Ah, Fuli! Kiara! What brings you here?" Asks Rafiki.

"Fuli's hurt." Answers Kiara, cutting to the chase.

"Let me see." Says Rafiki.

He examines each of Fuli paws.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, you've over worked yourself, Fuli...again. You've been running too much, too hard on the rough ground. You're paws are weak and can be damaged easily." Explains Rafiki.

"So what do I do?" Asks Fuli in an annoyed tone.

"Fuli..." Whispers Kiara warningly.

Rafiki ignores Fuli's annoyance and explains. "Makini has been watching you hunt from the tree. She's designed something to help your paws. Makini?"

Makini pops out from the branches and jumps onto the floor.

"Yes Rafiki?" She asks.

Makini had also grown into a young adult but her personality hasn't changed much. Still a chatterbox but has learned to be patient.

"The boots you have made for Fuli?"

"Oh yes! I have them right here." Says Makini searching for the boots. "I wasn't sure about the sizing but I can make some adjustments. These were made to help protect your paws but they have holes so you can use your claws."

Makini puts the boots on Fuli's paws, being careful about the scratches. The boots were a little big but they looked quite fashionable.

"The idea is weird but they look they look cool." Says Fuli.

"I'll make some adjustments. Just give me a moment." Replies Makini.

She disappears into a deeper part of the tree but pops out again shortly.

"Ready!" Makini cheers.

Once again, Makini puts the boots on Fuli's paws.
(The boots would look something like this. I couldn't be bothered to go into a lot of detail and it looks better in my head. Sorry about the random idea.)

The boots fit Fuli perfectly

The boots fit Fuli perfectly.

"Thanks Makini." Says Fuli.

Makini smiles "Hakuna Matata."

"I would not recommend you hunting for the rest of the day. Give your paws some time to heal. You can hunt again tomorrow." Says Rafiki.

"But what about our friends? They still need food." Argues Fuli.

"NO. I'll hunt for the rest of the day. Go back to the lair and rest." Orders Kiara.

"What will you hunt? You can't take down a gazelle or something by yourself." Replies Fuli.

"I'll hunt the smaller prey. Besides, I don't have to hunt much now. We already hunted enough food for the pride today. I'll hunt for Jasiri's clan."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes Fuli. Go back to the lair and get some rest."

The two leave the tree and go their separate ways. Fuli goes to the lair while Kiara hunts.
