One night, while Fuli was wandering alone, she caught an unfamiliar scent. Fuli follows the scent until she found a trail of blood. Thinking of the worst that this could be Zuri's mate, Fuli follows the trail until she found a lion's body resting on the ground. She cautiously approaches the rogue lion.
"Zuri?" Asks the rogue.
Fuli could tell by the scratches, the bite marks and the blood, that this young male had been attacked by the Outlanders. He was quite handsome for a rogue. He had a dark brown mane with light brown fur. He also had spots that covered his shoulders and the colour matched his chocolate brown eyes. Fuli had to admit that Zuri had good taste.
"No, I'm Fuli. I'm a friend of Zuri's. Are you the rogue she spoke about?" Asks Fuli
"Yes, I'm her mate. The name's Roho. Where is Zuri? Is she ok? I haven't seen her in months." Replies the rogue.
"Zuri's fine. The Pridelands have been taken over by Scar and he's imprisoned the pride, the lion guard and Jasiri's clan. Princess Kiara and I are the only ones who can hunt for them." Explains Fuli.
"Scar is back? What about King Simba and Queen Nala?"
"Dead. They died fighting against Scar."
"Wait. You're Fuli, aren't you the fastest of lion guard?"
Fuli nods.
"I've heard so much about you. I've heard so many stories about your adventures." Says Roho.
"Have you heard about our leader, Kion?" Asks Fuli.
"Yeah! He has the roar of the elders. Where is he? Is he dead too?"
Fuli's eyes prickle with tears.
Roho must've noticed because he asks "What's wrong?"
"Kion's gone. He's been missing for years. After an incident, he was afraid of turning evil so he just...ran away and I didn't stop him."
"Oh Fuli, I'm so sorry."
"Don't be. I like to think he's dead; makes things easier. So Roho, did the Outlanders do this to you?" Asks Fuli looking at Roho's injuries.
"Yeah. They got me pretty good. I was trying to sneak in and find Zuri but I guess the hyenas found me first." Replies Roho.
"I'll take you to Zuri. Rafiki should be there soon to make sure she's alright and he can look at your injuries."
"Did something happen to her?"
"She's expecting. You're the father."
Roho's face turns from concern to surprise. His face also turns bright red.
Fuli laughs at his expression. "Don't worry. Zuri has been wanting Cubs for a while now. She's happy about this."
Roho sighs in relief.
"We better get moving before the Outlanders find you again. Follow me, stay low and keep quiet." Orders Fuli.
She takes him to Zuri without anyone spotting them. They enter the lionesses new den and approach Zuri.
"Roho! Oh thank goodness you're alright." Says Zuri with a smile.
Roho approaches his mate and nuzzles her.
"Thank you Fuli. Thank you for bringing him to me." Says Zuri looking at her cheetah friend.
Fuli smiles back at her friend and gives her a little nod.
"We're going to be parents soon, Roho. Twins according to Rafiki." Says Zuri.
"That's great. I wasn't expecting this so soon but I can't wait to be a father." Replies Roho.
Zuri's face saddens. "Roho, you need to leave. I don't want to be the reason why you get hurt. The Outlanders could find you here."
"I am not leaving you." Snaps Roho.
"Yes you are! If the Outlanders find you, they will kill you for sure." Argues Zuri.
"But-"
"Roho, hear her out." Says one of the other lionesses.
Zuri continues "You can stay until you're strong enough to leave."
"Very well. I'll leave when the Cubs are born but I'll return when the Pridelands are at peace once more." Roho vows.
'If the Pridelands return to normal.' Thought Fuli.
She watches the happy couple and couldn't help but feel a little jealous. Watching the two made Fuli remember some of the romantic moments she had with Kion when they were little...that was before he left.
