'What are we?' Pete thought to himself. They haven't exactly discussed what they were really. All of this is happening now, but...were they dating? Officially? Or has this just become a friends with benefits kindof ordeal? Doubt it, but whatever it is, it was time.
"Hey-" Patrick moaned as Pete shuffled him awake.
"Mhm-hm. . ." He scratched his eyes and yawned, snuggling into Pete's warm, bare chest.
"What are we?" He straightforwardly asked him. Patrick shrugged. "Whatever you want us to be."
"No, I'm serious. What are we? Are we-Are we dating or is this some. . .friends with benefits shit?" Patrick furrowed his eyebrows and sat up, looking into Pete's eyes.
"Friends with benefits? Where did you get that from?" He inquired, Pete shrugged lightly. "We are definitely not at the stage, not that there ever was a benefits part, but no. Not even close to that. And besides, people with friends with benefits relationships don't actually love each other. They just do it for the sex-" He added until Pete cut him off.
"Do you - love me?" He muttered, swallowing.
"Pete-"
"Answer the question. Please." Pete fiddled with his fingers, looking down at them.
There was a long, terrifying pause.
"Yes." Patrick declared, nodding. "I really do. More than I could've ever imagined I would have with anyone. Pete -" He added, "I will sing to you every single day if it will take your pain away. You can call me at any time of the day or night and I'll sing you a lullaby to make you sleep comfortably again. I will make you believe you are my one and only because that is in fact what you - are. You hear me?" He gently passed his hand down Pete's cheeks, smiling. "I - love - you."
Pete blushed completely red and bit his lip - out of both embarrassment and affection.
"Me too. . . .heh." Pete shyly murmured under his breathe. Patrick brought him into a comforting hug they both needed.
