Present Day:Jimin has been knocking on his boyfriend's (or is he his ex already?) door for the past twenty minutes. His knuckles hurt but the pain is nothing compared to his aching, shattered heart. He knows his attempts are futile as much as he knows the other is inside, blatantly ignoring him. He saw him walk in and shut the door with a loud thud behind him around half an hour ago, probably back from one of his late night classes. It's already been a week since the party and Jimin is sick of crying himself to sleep, sick of Taehyung's pitiful glances as he offers him his arms when he's pathetically shivering, missing the older's warmth. So he's decided he'll sleep outside his door if he must. Sooner or later, he must leave his dorm, right?
"Please, open up," he almost whispers, loud enough for the older to hear. He prays for his roommate not to be inside since that'd be a bit awkward. "You can't just ignore me forever." He says though Hoseok has been proving that he, as a matter of fact, can. Jimin bites his lip, swallowing the lump in his throat and swaying away the tears that threaten to spill down his face. He's getting used to the wet feeling on his cheeks, the salty smell on his nose. "Do you even love me?" he asks in a pathetic broken sob, " Did you ever ?" the question leaves his plump lips before he can catch the words and save them in the deep, scary void of his chest.
And that's when the door finally opens up exposing a scary looking Hoseok with furrowed eyebrows, messy pink hair and bags under his wide eyes. Jimin has never seen him so mad, like he's a second away from yelling bloody murder; there's a barely concealed rage in the blink of his eyes, in the tip of his nails and the corners of his mouth. Jimin wishes he didn't notice so much, that he wasn't so familiar with every part of him.
"How dare you ask me that!?" He yells, an accusatory index finger stabbing his chest. He's wearing that tight black shirt inside his black jeans as he usually does, and just seeing him sends a pang to the blonde's heart. He's missed him dearly.
"I---please, talk to me. We can work this out---" he almost pleads, voice soft with vulnerability.
"No, we can't. You cheated on me with my best friend ," he replies, the words tight and strong. Jimin thinks a punch in the stomach would hurt less than this, would wound him less than the look Hoseok is sending him right now, less than the venom he spits at him. How could he say those words with such certainty without even bothering to listen to him?
"No! That's not what happened and you know it! I was fucking drunk and so was he," he explains or at least tries to, for the sobs that erupt through his words and the tears that he can no longer hold back, make it harder for him to even utter a coherent word. He hates not being able to keep it together but how could he? "Why are you doing this? Is this an excuse to break up with me?"
Hoseok looks offended, baffled by the idea. His eyes are impossibly wider, his cheeks red with rage. "An excuse ? Don't fucking turn this on me! You did this. You and that other fucking jerk. If you like him so much, go be with him," Hoseok keeps on screaming, madness on his eyes. And Jimin knows, he knows he's so hurt, he can see it hidden deep behind his irises. He's known him for years now, and he knows but his words hurt him nonetheless.
"I don't! I love you, Hobi. You know I do. Why would I be here if I didn't?" He says in a lower, softer voice this time, trying to calm him down. His fingers burn with the need to reach out and caress his cheek like he's done so many times before. He never imagined there would come a day he wouldn't be allowed to do that anymore. Touching Hoseok was like second nature to him, hugging him, being held by him...he can't picture a world in which his fingers aren't intertwined with his.
"I don't know. You must hate me or something," he replies in a hushed, almost embarrassed whisper, and the way he looks down at the floor as the words brush his tongue, makes Jimin shakes his head with desperation.
