Force of Nature

You said I was the best of each season,
The first rain of Spring offering life,
And the warm rays of Summer,
Offering up their light.

You said that I was like the Fall,
In all of its colorful splendor,
And like the snow of Winter,
In its pure white grandeur.

But what you failed to notice,
That this wasn't all I hold,
Because every season has it's moments,
When it needs to be bold.

I was also a late Spring frost,
Killing the buds that were forming,
And a thunderstorm in Summer,
Sending lightning as my warning.

I was the dark side of Fall,
Leaving everything to decay,
A brutal blizzard in Winter,
Covering everything in my way.

I am a force of nature,
That's something you forgot,
Because you can't have the beauty of life,
Without also dealing with the rot.
