We had actually gotten two rides. One with Rusty and another with Claire. She was this shrimpy women. As soon as she pulled over and saw us, she got skitterish, but she was one of those people who couldn't say no. She let us in her mini van and drove us as far as Indianapolis.
When we got out, Claire zipped on down the highway. We had made it to a train station at 2:30 and had to wait 15 minutes before the next train came in.
We boarded the train at 2:45 and got even more weird looks. We headed to the back of the passenger train. Ryan sat across from me and Sasha sat next to me. We were hoping to not set off any red alarms due to the heap of hybrids in the passenger car. It took Sasha seven minutes after we got settled, for her to pass out.
"Crimson, can you tell me anymore about this plan, or why we aren't riding the line further into Ohio?"
"I've told you all I really can about the plan. And about stopping in Dayton, I just have this feeling. Like we're supposed to go there."
"Well, we have a few hours before we get to Dayton, I think it be best if you took a little power nap." He tilted his head towards Sasha.
I nodded. I really did try to sleep. I just couldn't. Ryan spent most the ride reading an Indiana state info book. Sasha woke up at one point, ate the rest of her breakfast, then passed back out. I could tell the girl didn't deal well with the whole "monster killing" profession.
When we got to Dayton, Ryan woke up Sasha while I slipped off the train. I was standing in the middle of Dayton. Ryan and Sasha came off the train. We looked at each other, then we headed out of the station.
We had made it to a secluded part of Dayton and decided to break out the rations Ryan and Sasha had in their packs. After we ate, Sasha was about to tell us about her dream, but we were interrupted.
I was the first to hear the barking of a dog. The bark wasn't vicious, but it grabbed my attention. I readied my dagger and walked towards the bark. Sasha and Ryan were confused, but I followed the bark anyway.
I turned the corner, and standing there was an angelic corgi. The corgi turned around and I was suddenly enveloped with feathers and warmth. Hugging me was my sister.
