The next day:

Kenna's POV

Earlier today, I had my first checkup after my chemo.

Tyler asked me if I felt any pain or side effects from the treatment.

I told him about the slight dizziness I felt after he left last night. He didn't say much at first, just jotted stuff down.

After the checkup, Danica cleared her throat and excused herself from the room.

Here we go again.

"Well, you're going to have to get used to this more often," he says, smirking at me.

"What?" I look at him in confusion, trying to avoid the fact that he has read my mind.

"Oh, you very well know what Kenny darling", he says, making his way towards me.

I try to play dumb, but he gives me such a look that I can't help but give up.

"Yeah, I get it. But it's not that I'm complaining," I blurted out accidentally.

Oh crap, Kenna.

As soon as I say that, his face lights up.

Okay, he's laughing at how desperate I sound.

"Yup, me too," he says with the largest grin on his face.

As I try to recover from the shock, he speaks again: "I hope you haven't forgotten that we're going to be hanging out today."

Of course not; I have been waiting for it.

"Oh no, I haven't," I say, trying to sound calm.

"Kenny, you look so cute when you try to cover up something," he says, making me blush.

"I'll be at your room at five p.m. Be ready, pretty girl," he says, and walks out of the room.

It takes me five minutes to process what just happened before walking back to my room.

Now that I'm back in my hospital room, I'm getting ready to hang out with Tyler.

Or for our date, as mom said.

Well, I don't think of it as a date because I'm pretty sure he doesn't feel a thing for me.

I mean, it's not that I like him or anything.

Okay, maybe I find him extremely cute.

But I'm sure the feeling isn't mutual.

I am just crushing on my doctor. Come on, Kenna!

Well, I can't go to the hospital garden in this stupid gown.

Definitely not.

I ruffle through my bag and find just the right outfit.

I put on a pair of light blue jeans and a black T-shirt that read "DOPE." I also put on a pair of black sneakers.

I fix my hair into a ponytail and am content with my look.

I walk towards the bedside table to grab my phone, when there's a knock on the door.

I grab my phone and almost run to answer the door.

"Careful," mom says in between watching some random movie on the television.
