Two days later:

Tyler's POV

I now held Kenny's reports in my hand, wanting to go and inform them of the news.

I've read and reread it again and again, and my eyes were unable to believe what I had read.

Was this really happening?

Yes, it was.

I need to tell everyone. They have to know about the reports.

The sooner, the better.

I rush to Kenny's room and swing the door open without even knocking.

I'm greeted by a very surprised Danica and a slightly nervous Erin.

"Hi there. What's this rush all about?" Erin nervously laughs.

"The reports," I say, looking at Kenny, who is still asleep.

"What's it?" Erin moves closer to me.

"Let's wake her up. She needs to know," I motion to Kenny.

Danica nods and proceeds to wake her up.

"Let me sleep," she pleads with her eyes still shut.

"Tyler's here. I bet you wouldn't want to sleep anymore," Erin jokes.

"Huh?"

At once, she flutters her eyes open and looks around.

"Ty!" she smiles, looking at me.

"Kenny, I've got your reports." I look at the paper in my hand.

"What's it?"

She sits upright.

I looked at the paper again. I read it one last time before I told them about it.

"It's all clear. You are in complete remission. You're good to go!" I scream with joy as I rush towards her and give her the tightest hug.

She returns the hug.

Erin and Danica squeal with joy as soon as they hear me.

"It's alright. It's all okay now. We're going to be okay. We're going to get you home," I whisper into her ear, pulling her to me.

"You've done it, Tyler. You've actually done it. You've fulfilled your promise," she says, pulling away from the hug and looking at me.

"I told you I'd never let you down, baby. That I'd make sure you're alright, and here you are, completely alright," I say, kissing her forehead.

She nods with tears and hugs me again, pulling me closer than ever.

This is what I wanted.

This is precisely what I wanted. Kenny's results showed complete remission.

As Kenny and I sat for lunch together in her room, I couldn't help but be happy for everything that has happened.

I'm happy for Kenny's reports. I'm happy for what this life has given me: Kenny. I'm happy for us and our future.

Our lunch wasn't very interesting, as Kenny was still on her diet, which meant she had sliced carrots and cucumbers with a glass of orange juice. And me? I had porridge.

There was a tiny bed table for Kenny, and I managed to squeeze myself onto her bed so that we could share the tiny table.

As we ranted about how bland our lunch tasted, there was a knock on the door. I assumed it was Erin and Danica back from the cafeteria.
