Raven quickly woke up and got dressed, just like everyone else in her school. The only difference was she had a drunken father downstairs, which was her only way out of the house. She tiptoed downstairs and saw her dad with a hungover laying on the couch. She quietly got a banana from the bowl for breakfast and quietly dashed towards the door. As she ate the banana while walking, she thanked God for him not waking up. It was Tuesday now, so she had to get through 4 more days of school before the weekend. Her dad left Raven alone on Saturday and Sunday for a few hours because he went to the strip club to dance. When she walked into school, she was greeted with a large banner saying "Assembly today! All to cafeteria!" Raven smiled and walked to the cafeteria. She wouldn't have to talk to anyone for a while. But while she was walking, the Rainbows blocked her way. The Rainbows were the school's most known clique of girls. There were seven members, each eyes and their hair the color of the rainbow. There was Ruby, Marigold, Sunny, Kiwi, Ocean, Indi, and Violet. Ruby was the meanest. "Oh look what we have here! The quietest, fattest, lamest colored eyes girl of the school!" She snickered, pushing Raven aside. Raven wished she could stand up for herself, but she couldn't. She just watched as the Rainbows walked in rainbow order, all their hair looking beautiful together. She walked into the assembly and sat down on a chair. Meanwhile, Melody, Stormy, Skye, and Jade all sat together excitedly. "I wonder what the assembly will be about!" Melody said, and her friends agreed. Raven watched them and was silently jealous. Why couldn't she have friends? Suddenly, loud music started playing, quieting everyone. Soon, the principal, Mrs. Prisma, walked onto the stage and everyone cheered. Her eyes were three different colors each, a very rare thing. Her powers were that she could turn anything colorful in literally a blink of the eye. Her hair was long and very colorful. She was 32, but most of the students thought she looked way younger. She started speaking into a microphone. "Good morning everyone! I am here today to discuss new activities we are going to be having here at our school. Activities that you may love so much, you unlock your eye powers from them! In fact, our very own Coach Amy got her powers after taking an after school P.E. class every day." A murmur went over the school. "So here are all the activities we are offering! It is required, yes, required, that everyone does at least one activity. They will each have 10 classes either take place during or after school, depending on the activity." The principal went on. Raven immediately thought that she wanted to do an after school class. Then Mrs. Prisma turned on a PowerPoint on the huge smart board behind her. "Here are all the activities you can do!" She said, started the slideshow. "Number one. Cooking. This will take place after school. You will make a variety of meals, snacks, and desserts!" Raven thought that one sounded great, not only was it after school but she always seemed to be hungry. Stormy wanted to do this one. "Number two. Extra P.E. You will play lots of team games and have fun after school 10 times." The Rainbows wrinkled their noises and quietly whispered "Ew," and so did Raven silently. "Number three, four, five, six, seven, eight, and nine. Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Tennis, Volleyball, Badminton, and Kickball! These are for all you sports lovers out there. They will be after school." No thank you. Raven didn't like any game that involved people yelling at her or throwing balls at her. "Ten. Art club. You will be drawing and painting many beautiful pictures during your activity period." Jade and Melody instantly liked this one. "Eleven. Craft club. Same as art but you will be making many kinds of crafts after school, including slime!" "Ooooooohhhh," the crowd said. Skye really wanted to do this one. Raven had a horrible memory of slime. One of the Rainbows, Indi, had handed containers out to everyone. Raven seemed to have gotten the most sticky one. Indi had "accidentally" dropped the opened container all over Ravens shirt and locket! She tried scrubbing it off but it didn't work and she had to go around the rest of the day with a slime stain. Then at home her dad threw a beer bottle at her just because it cost money for laundry detergent to wash clothes. Raven shuddered just thinking of the memory. "Twelve. Fun and games club. This is a great opportunity to make new friends." Raven perked up. "It will be during school and you will play board games, do partner games, and you are guaranteed to make at least one friend or your money back!" Raven wilted. Money? She barely listened as Mrs. Prisma explained the other ones. "The tuition cost for each club will be only $10! We're keeping the price low because we want students to do whatever they want to do," Raven perked up a little. She would only have to make $20. There is no way she would ask her dad for the money. He worked as a stripper during the day and got lots of money, but Raven didn't think he would want to share with her. "However, if you think money will be a problem, come talk to me later." Money would be a problem for Raven, so she decided to go to her at the end of the day. As she was leaving to go to her first class after picking up a few forms, she heard the Rainbows chatting. "Money problems? Oh please." Marigold said. "I know right? Only a broke loser like Raven would have that," Ruby said. Hot tears sprang to Raven's eyes as she ran to class. She got through math and science without anyone making fun of her. Then it was lunchtime. Raven felt so embarrassed because she was the only one in the school who received free lunch because of "money problems." But it was the only full meal she had per day, so she loved eating it. Today she got a slice of pizza, milk, a small salad, and a fruit cup. She got her lunch and went to a small table alone, prayed, and started eating. Meanwhile, Stormy, Melody, Jade, and Skye were happily chatting at their table. "So, what activities do you guys want to do?" Stormy asked. "Craft club!" Jade and Melody said simultaneously before cracking up. "Cool! I'm doing cooking," Stormy said. "I'm doing craft club!" Skye chimed in. "I wonder which one Raven is doing. She has to do one," Stormy said. The other three exchanged a silent look and said "Yeah." Then two of the Rainbows, Ruby and Sunny, cane over to Raven. Sunny's personality was not bright and sunny. "Oh look, the little loser's enjoying her free lunch because she has "money problems." Ruby said. Raven just kept on eating. If she tried to stand up for herself, her stutter would act up way more because she was scared. "What's the matter? Cat got your tongue? Meow! Meow! Meow! Meow!" Sunny mocked. "She's just ignoring us," Ruby whispered, but Raven heard. "Yeah. Let's do something." Sunny said.  "Hey loser-look on the ceiling, I see a spider." Raven did not like spiders, so her head automatically snapped up. Immediately, Ruby turned Raven's tray sideways and shoved it into her stomach, getting food all over her clothes! Raven saw one look at what Ruby had done and jumped out of her seat to run to the bathroom, hot tears streaming down her face. She ignored Sunny calling "Aww, the little baby's gonna cry about it. Why don't you call your mommy to make you feel better?" She locked herself in a stall, curled up into a ball, and cried. Why did she have to not have friends? Why did she have to have an abusive dad? Why couldn't her mom come back? Why did she have to be shy? Why did the Rainbows have to pick on her?  Meanwhile, at Stormy's table, Stormy said, "Guys, Ruby just flipped Raven's whole tray onto her stomach and she ran out of the cafeteria." "Oh that's too bad," Melody said before continuing to talk about her annoying little sister. Stormy was thinking, Why am I the only one who cares about Raven? And why can't I go to the bathroom and talk to her? I know why. I'm afraid my friends will think I'm weird for talking to her. But she was crying! I NEED to talk to her. "Guys, I have to pee. Be right back." Stormy said before dashing to the bathroom. The three left exchanged a look of disgust. "Now the only thing she talks about is Raven. Raven this and Raven that. I bet you a million bucks she was going to see Raven in the bathroom," Jade said, and the other two agreed. Meanwhile in the bathroom Stormy heard heavy sobs coming from a stall. She got some paper towels and wet some of them. Then she opened up the stall door. "G-g-go away v-Violet." Raven stuttered. "I'm not Violet, Raven. I'm Stormy and I can help you." Stormy said, handing Raven the paper towels. "T-t-t-thank you," Raven said. "You're welcome. Come on, I'll help you get cleaned up. Then we can go back to your table." Stormy said. Raven was extremely grateful as Stormy helped her get the pizza off her shirt. Then she walked Raven back to her table. "Listen-I gotta go-but what's your phone number so we can text?" Stormy asked. Raven suddenly felt embarrassed. "U-um, I d-d-don't have a p-p-p-phone." She said. "Oh, that's ok. We'll talk later then. Bye!" Raven waved as Stormy went back to her table, giving Raven a look that looked like she really wanted to stay and talk to her. At Stormy's table, the other three were annoyed. "Why were you talking to Raven? She's just a poor loser who has a bad stutter," Skye said. "No she isn't! Leave her alone!" Stormy snapped back, offended. "Whatever." Skye rolled her eyes and the four ate the rest of their lunch in silence.
