I was standing inside the library of the academy. It was all empty, except my History teacher leaning over a desk. She was reading an old book. She didn't react to me showing up, even though I had shown up in the loose air. I remembered that I was standing in just my blouse... I looked down, I didn't have anything on my feet. I pinched myself, trying to wake me up, but nothing happens. I tried to make contact the teacher, but she couldn't see or hear me...
I heard someone come in, I turned around and saw Cam. He walked to the teacher and stood in front of her, she looked shortly up before she closed her book and looked at him again.
I walked closer. I was about to tap on his shoulder when I saw the calendar that was hanging on the wall behind him. The date was 2 mounts ago, it was 5 weeks before I had arrived at Sword & Cross. How was this possible? This couldn't be a dream.
"Dabriana, we need to talk..." Cam's voice was serious and mad. A smile showed up at the teachers face.
"What are you doing down here?" His voice was low, but it had a shouting rust in it.
"I came down to see you" she made an innocent cling in her voice.
"I had to see you again. I have been trying for a long time..."
"It was a bad idea" his voice was bitter.
"I know its long time since we saw each other last, but I was hoping for a warmer welcome then that..." Cam didn't answer.
"I have been thinking about you," she said, lowering her voice, more playfully."you know... it wasn't easy to get down here... "
"talk." Cam sounded impatient.
"Ok, I know how you can get your wings back." Cam's look changes fast, his eyes got bigger, a way to show her that he got his attention.
"whats the catch..." He looked around, to make sure no one was around.
"There is none," she said, gladder. "You just need to save a human life. And you will get your wings back." She had more confidence in her voice now. "Everything can be like it was, well, Ish"
"What rang do I get?" Cam didn't look any way of happy or reaction to Dabriana's news.
She hesitated, "Guardian Angel" Cam gave a little laugh.
"Guardian Angel... The lowest rang there is..." "At least you got the chance!"
"Who do I need to save?" He looked at the clock. "Do I need to do everything, you didn't even say thanks ..." She looked at him with a sad face. "what's so bad about being a Guardian?" She looked stressed like she needed him to take the offer.
"I have better stuff going on," he said. He started walking towards the door. I followed, but looked back at the teacher, she had closed her eyes, like if she could see a picture inside her eyelids. "Wait!" She shouted desperately.
"Tell me why you really are here..." He said without looking back."What do you mean? I told you!"
Cam had stopped and was now looking at her. "I know you are lying" his voice was dark again.
"Fine... I know what you're planning. I know you have heard the rumours about Enok's Book." She looked even more worried. "I know you think you can do it, but you know there is no way."
"They sent you down, didn't they?" He had gotten energic like this was the best and funniest he had heard yet. "And if they did it must be true" he had a luring smile coming in the right side of his mouth.
"No, it's not! Their just rumours" she was starting to get stressed.
"Are they going to try to stop me? How big threat am I?" He leaned his head to the left."Can't you just forget about the book, come home. Be a Guardian."
"Give me a name." She gave him a smile, but he didn't retreat it. Instead, he slowly turned around and started walking again. She closed her eyes, "OK! Wait. I can see it, there is a girl, she is in big danger." Cam stopped, "What danger?" He stared at the door, attempted to keep walking.
"Someone wants to kill her." He slowly turned around. "Who is she?" She waited a second. "Nora... Nora Grey."My body froze. Was I in danger?? Did someone want me dead? Cam's face tightened. His eyes were dark as coal. "Who kills her?" Cam's voice was dark, chocked.
"I can't see it, everything is happening so fast." Dabriana opened her eyes. "Omg ..." she looked mixed between sad and scared. She took a hand up to her mouth, her hand was shaking. She looked confused at Cam, with a hate in her eyes. "A name, Dabriana. A name!" he sounded very impatient this time. Her voice shacked, it was more like a whispering scream.
