Great, Olivia had somehow managed to mess up escorting Kyo. Yeah, Ryan and Therin had showed up to help get him to the barracks, but Olivia still felt like she could have helped him more. Or something. Why did life have to be complicated?
They waited outside the room they had put Kyo in, all of them in a sort of anxious silence. After he had collapsed and started trembling, he was unresponsive to anything. So, with an effort of combined wind magic, they had taken him back to the dorms and Sira was sent with specific directions to the nearest healer in the city. Upon returning with the water nymph, Sira seemed to want to do something more to help, but nobody knew how.
And now, Olivia and the others, bar Dom, were seated around the table, unable to shake the fear for Kyo's health. She could hardly bear the silence for much longer, so she tried to start conversation, "So, you're Sira?"
The blonde girl looked over, sullen, "Yeah, what of it?"
"Have you been able to tap into your Essence, yet?"
Sira raised an eyebrow, "If you're trying to distract me from the situation, it's not working."
Therin, across the table from Olivia, groaned, obviously bored, "If we're going to wait, can we at least do something with our time?"
Ryan shook his head, "No, I'd rather be here when Kyo wakes up. That way, we can help him out with his confusion."
Olivia agreed, "Yeah, and I bet, considering where I rescued him from, he's probably more confused and afraid than any of us probably were."
Sira piped up, "Where did you rescue him from, again?"
"A forest called Nightmare. And as you have probably guessed, names in Dream are pretty straightforward."
"But not anything in Dream." She speculated.
"Correct," spoke a voice from the doorway.
They all turned to see Dom, a tall, stocky kid. He was about fourteen, so, he was kind of imposing to the younger three recruits. Regardless, he was really kind, but didn't always seem to feel comfortable around the others, which is why, whenever they planned in the morning, he chose things to do that would leave him solitary. Olivia could never figure out why this was, but she figured it was better to let him do his own thing.
As of now, he was wearing a brown leather jacket, a red beanie, a red shirt, and some loose-fitting jeans. Brown hair, green eyes, pleasant facial features, blah, blah, blah. Now Olivia could get back to listening rather than describe him.
"Since this world is called Dream, what do you think that implies?" He asked.
Sira responded, initiating the conversation, "One of two things, that it is either made up of our dreams, or it is what makes up our dreams."
"You are right on both accounts, but that's not what's important. What is important is how is Kyo?"
As if to answer his question, the door opened, revealing the water nymph, a kind lady who went by Niomi, "He should be up and about in a couple minutes. I wasn't able to restore his full memory, but he has remembered some things that he wants to talk to you about."
Olivia tilted her head to the side, "How did you communicate with him? He can't speak naturally."
"I know sign language." And Niomi took her leave, melting into a puddle and seeping through the stone.
Dom rolled his eyes, "I wish she wouldn't do that; it raises our rent by a ton when the inspectors see the damage."
Therin seemed excited, "More to the point, we finally get to do something! Come on, let's go talk to him."
