Ryan: Chapter 14

She appeared right next to him. One moment, Aly wasn't there, then poof, she was standing right next to Ryan. She looked as if she was lost, though he supposed popping into a mystical world of dreams after falling asleep would do that to you. It was a bad time, though. He was glad to see her familiar face, but not outlined by the Reaper's dome.

She blinked once, twice, then burst, "Wait, what?!"

Everyone else turned towards her, wondering where the new voice had come from. When Therin saw her, she ran up to Aly and gave her a hug, "Aly! What are you doing here?"

"Umm... I don't know. One moment, I was visiting Ryan and then I was here. Did I... fall asleep? Is this a dream?"

Ryan smiled. He had been exactly the same way when he and Therin had woken up here after the crash, "We'll explain later. We just have to get away from that." He pointed at the Reaper.

Aly looked at it and her eyes went wide, "Yeah, let's go."

Olivia stepped off of Mia and asked hurriedly, "But how? There's the Reaper there, demons in the grass ahead of us, and demons in the air blocking our escape. There's no good way out."

"Could we take a messy way?" Dom asked.

Therin pumped a fist, "Yes."

No, Kyo interrupted, We don't want to endanger whoever this is. Aly, was it?

Everyone looked at her. "What? Why're you all looking at me?"

Shoot, I forgot I wasn't linked to her. Olivia, would you please?

She nodded and stepped up to Aly, "Now this might hurt a little bit, but we've got to do it sooner or later."

"Huh?" Aly recoiled at Olivia's touch to the side of her head, "Ouch! What did you do to me?"

Connected your thoughts to me.

"Woah, he sounds like..."

Ryan pointed at him, "That's Kyo. Since he's mute, he has to communicate through telepathy."

Okay, now that she's at least a little caught up, the only clear path is over the Reaper.

"What?" Sira interjected, "I'm not comfortable going close to that thing. Though, we are pretty close to it already."

She was right, for as long as they were talking, the Reaper had closed the distance between them enough to make Ryan even more worried. That thing was fast.

That settles it, let's go.

Aly held out her hands, "Wait, hold on, I am most certainly not caught up. I don't know what the Reaper is, why we have to run, how we're going to go over it. Can someone explain stuff to me?"

Kyo walked up to her and went down on one knee so that they were about level, Listen, for now, you just have to trust us. We'll get you out of here, and then we'll talk.

Aly hesitated, but she nodded, satisfied at least for now. Kyo looked at Olivia, We could use a diversion. Could you and Mia--

"On it." Olivia hopped on her mount without hesitation and took off, the two of them a gold and black blur in the distance within moments.

Ryan stepped forward an launched himself into the air with a rock spire. From there, he manipulated the wind to thrust him upwards. He heard Aly exclaim below, but it was quickly carried away by the rush of the air around him. Next to him, Dom was using a new method of mobility, causing lightning to arc between him and the few clouds, which he then rode, like he was being pulled up by a rope. Sira was using a water halo which swirled around her, lifting her like a helicopter. Therin, being Therin, just flew.
